I have an opportunity to move there this summer with some friends who say how great it is. I'm not a skier, even tho I live in a ski town now. I really like the Glacier area, but am willing to relocate to Colorado if the job market is good enough.

One thing that concerns me about Colorado is it's too damn crowded. Understandably, SS is in northwestern CO "away from it all" but it's still Colorado. All the cool kids don't move there anymore.

Thoughts? Montana or Colorado?

If Colorado is too crowded you don't have a ton of options.

It's one of the go-to beginner ski resorts, so it's going to be packed all winter.

True, but Montana has spoiled me.

The summers are hard to beat here, but it gets cold as shite in the winter.

I think I'll visit in April/May before making a decision.

What kind of job market are you expecting in a ski town?

There's a poster in the season long ski thread on the Travel Board who lives in steamboat springs and posts a lot about it.

SS is a great place. However having grown up in Colorado id pick MT over current day CO.

Not to hijack, but what kind of work does one do with this? It's an interesting combination. I'm thinking of a career change and this intrigues me. What do you do if you don't mind me asking?

My buddy lived there for about 12 years. Worked the resort in the winter and was a fly fisherman guide in the summer.

Me personally, I love Montana.

I lived there for 2 years and if I hit the 6 numbers, will have a place there. Really wonderful spot. Will try to answer any questions but it has been 16 years since I lived there. I have been back 7 or 8 times and have some friends there.

It's fantastic. Doesn't get the crowds of the other ski towns in CO because it's not located near Denver and not along I-70. Beautiful area and I would move there in a second.

I love Montana. If everything were equal I would choose MT over CO every time. Steamboat is really nice though and not the huge tourist trap that places closer to Denver are

Steamboat ain't crowded. It does, however, have an abundance of hipster hippies that pretend to be cowboys.

Seriously, if you are thinking about moving to Steamboat, there are places to live very close by that will be much, much cheaper. Totally different than Glacier.

What type of job market are you interested in?
