I have a 6 year old GSP, and my God I love this dog. We have been researching the GWP and will likely get one soon. Our GSP is loyal, loving, smart as a whip, and not really dominant at all, but not a wimp either. He is friendly with everyone, including other dogs, but will mind his own business. He loves attention from people, anyone really, and doesn't seem to be concerned with other dogs if other people are around. The only problem is he will jail-break any opportunity he gets, and run like the wind. 3-4 times this year he has lit out when a door or gate slipped open, but we just get a call about 20 minutes later when he gets thirsty and walks up to some stranger.

Great dog. And the Wirehaired Pointer might even have a more distinguished look.

Also, ours is considered large and is only 65lbs.

My buddy has a GSP. Dog is a complete a-hole, but we love him. He gets the job done, too.

Agreed. I can't stress enough the importance of training. My male was my first ever dog and I can still hear my dad laughing his arse off as his GSP listened to his every command and mine just took off running haha. Learning experience for sure.

There is nothing cooler than a beard on a dog. That's why I want a Black Russian Terrier.

I had one - loved it. Good with kids but aloof - not mean - with strangers. Also a good watchdog (to the unitiated it looks something like a doberman on steroids (due to the cropped tail), so folks aren't too sure how it'll act).

If I got another (larger) dog this is what I would want.

He will be my partner in crime. Duck hunting, fishing, boat riding, living.

Look no further. This is the dog for you. You're going to want a pair.

Just be careful. Chances are you're going to pay good money for one of those. Do your research before you do. You have to shop for working dogs. Just being a GWP doesn't necessarily mean it won't be a top to bottom inbred retard.

Take your time and research/talk to the breeders. If they sound like a salesmen, they probably are. You don't have to look long to find genuine people with good lines of proven smart dogs.

I don't think the GWP sheds a great deal which is also nice. These dogs are cool. It will btw that and a Vizsla for me.

Thanks bruh. A little bit of research has shown me that there are ZERO breeders south of the mason dixon, which is cool with and understandable. A lot of breeders in the midwest obviously

Vizslas seem like wonderful dogs, but I'm looking for something with a longer coat.

Yep, do your research, buy from the best breeder you can find regardless of where it is located.

Yea you'll have that. Not many good coon dog breeders around here either. Dog shopping is a bitch when it's something specialized other than a lab.

We've had dogs air mailed in before. Pretty easy process, but you have to trust who you're dealing with.

You're gonna pull incredible amounts of poon with that pup.

I love the beards on these things. Here is a draathar (sp?) which is basically the same dog with a different hunting pedigree.
