Raised in St. Amant (pronounced Sanamaw, no "t"). Whole family still lives there. What do you want to know?

STA is the better school district, especially if your kids are interested in medicine.

EA is better if they are interested in robotics or game design.

Dutchtown is better for culinary.

However, with a little planning and initiative, one can take any of those programs regardless of which school they enroll in.

St. Amant also has the best music program and sports medicine program.
Dutchtown has the best football team.

Because there is no such Saint named Amant.

Really, probably migrated to that slang over years and years.

Comes from the original french pronunciation of The man who founded the original school (which was k-12) at the site of the current St. Amant Middle.

Dr. Saint Amant was pronounced the french way
"Sou Amaw" (think how the french pronounced the names of their villages in "Band of Brothers")

Over the course of the next century, as English became more prevalent and the French language was physically beaten out of the population, Soun became San and the two words slowly merged into one to form the modern pronunciation of Sanamaw.

Amant is French, pronounced "Amaw"

Saint became san because of laziness, I suppose?

ETA: what bob said. lol

The EA district is going downhill

This the biggest load of BS, and I'm tired of hearing it. I volunteer quite often at EA. I went to EA, stepson and niece currently go there. The curriculums are identical at all schools. All schools have their pros and cons.

Stop with the "EA is going downhill" shite!

I think they're more referring to the neighborhoods in EA's district, particularly some of the poor black ones between Airline and Burnside. EA has some excellent administrators and principles. Plus, the school is recently renovated.

I might be relocating for work and I was told these are decent areas to move to with small children a little away from the hustle of BR. Is it better to be in the East Ascension or Santamaw school district?

Sannamaw and Dutchtown HS are very good. EA is okay too, but your hard leaning 'conservative' friends will say it's terrible.

EXACTLY. Do not listen to people saying that. It's pure racism.

My kids will go to St Amant HS in couple years.

Go to Livingston. Our traffic is bad enough already in the AP.

It has been said forever and people use the scores to support them.

No way numbers can be manipulated.

Take the top 15% from each school and they are likely identical.

If you are looking to buy land and build, be prepared to pay at least 30K and acre and haul in a hell of a lot dirt to build up. The Sanamaw area is lower than Gonzales, count on coming up another 3 to 6 ft in dirt.

By the time you pay for the land and your dirt work, prepare for your anus to be bored out larger than what it started out at.

It goes both ways. My stepson switched to EA, because of some racist, ignorant white kids at St. Amant. Not dogging STA; and my son might end up there one day.

By the way...most of my family went to St Amant.

Do you remember the original? Darrow drove through Pelican Point to get to EA.

They fricked up the feeder school system all in the name of saving the football teams.

I don't doubt there is a good deal of racist jack assery out there. I saw a recent FB post from the mom of a Higgins football player visiting St. Amant this year. She was shocked at how blatant these grown ups were yelling at their team bus and convoy into the stadium.

Damn Shame.

slight derail!

I am fascinated by the history of Galvez Town. That recent excavation was cool.

FYI for others(i'm sure you know) that when the Spanish settlement(near Freds on da River) failed, the remaining settlers moved to more stable area and settled in...... Spanish Town just east of downtown BR. More ya know.
