I believe stress triggered mine. Writhing in pain, biting down on a rag in my mouth. Ice pick behind the eye. Completely debilitating.

Hydrocodone leftover from wife’s c-section was the only thing that helped…and I had to double up on the dose.

I got an rx from a friend on standby in case it happens again.

Sunlight and alcohol caused mine. Oxygen and prescribed Anaprox worked.

High flow O2 will help. Likely insurance won’t cover it but if you really have cluster headaches it can be the only real relief.

Just be prepared the dme will bring a big arse tank.

So sorry:(

My dad suffered with them. It’s truly the demon inside of your head. It was a nightmare witnessing them.

Two key things: do NOT consume alcohol and stop smoking

Yep.

Have had them for 15 years.

Cycles on, and off. Same time everyday during cycles. Got to where the cycles would last 3 months at a time at 2x a day.

High amounts of tank c02, non re-breather mask works to abort. Oxygen therapy.

The only thing to keep them at bay for me (and I have had one cycle over the last 8 years), is psilocybin, or lsa.

Once every 6 months, it resets the cock.

Good luck. It's the absolute worse pain imaginable.

I don't know what I would have done, had I not known about the treatment. As another poster mentioned, they are life changing.

One thing that worked for me, was downing a 5 hour energy, at the onset. Sucks arse when it's in the middle of the night. Even then, the pain was so bad, the relief was enough to pass out from.

clusterbusters

^^^ Go here and do some digging.

I had them for several years - knock wood. The best thing I found to relieve one was Relpax. No otc drugs would touch it. Episodes stopped when I went on a cpap for apnea. Not sure if that was the reason or coincidence but Doc seemed to think it helped.
Odd thing was they started reoccurring after my second Covid vax. Lasted about two months then stopped again. Strange, right ?
Sumatriptan would usually kill one but took longer than the Relpax. That drug used to be super pricy (about $100 each) and most insurance wouldn’t cover it. Much cheaper now so might try that. Usually knock one out in about 15 minutes. Oxygen didn’t help me at all but can’t hurt to try.

When the pain literally makes you puke, it's bad. Have spent many hours hugging the toilet waiting for just enough relief where I could go lay down.

To OP, hope you're better.

I had several episodes one summer a few years back and very painful. Never had them since, thank goodness.

Had them for years when I was younger. Got them every year for the whole months of July and February. Exactly started and ended those months. Weird. The only way I can describe the pain was it felt like a severe muscle cramp on the inside of one side of your head that you couldn't massage out. Hell on earth. Prednisolone pack (decreasing dose for a week) saved me.

Almost everyday. Pain stabbing my left eye, same exact spot. So painful I start to feel faint and like I could throw up. Only thing that helps is going to sleep and then it returns next day. This just started a few months back, thinking it’s time to see a doc.

Yep, every 2-3 years I’ll have a month where I get one every other day, and then they’re gone for another 2-3 years.

Pretty debilitating and nauseating. They occur behind my right eye and right jaw, mainly.

Thankfully, they seem to be getting less severe as I age. Started in 2013.
