I heard Joe Rogan talking about it. Seems kinda interesting.

Is it kinda like doing hallucinogens in that you shouldn't do it if you've got some inner demons?

No. It's like putting in earplugs and then floating in a huge tub. What happens next is all up to you.

You will hear your breathing, heartbeat, and any other bodily digestive noises while you float.

I had the best times in the tank when I tuned into heartbeat and breathing and most importantly closing my eyes. When you close your eyes and focus its pretty cool.

I thought it was pretty cool.

Water temp and air temp are both 98 degrees so within a few minutes, it's hard to tell what's in the water and what' out and you are floating, so you can also lose situational awareness (which was a little startling at first, like you are falling). Once you get used to the lack of tactile stimulus, you adjust to the lack of visual or auditory stimulus. At that point, you can take a little trip because your brain fills the empty space all the stimuli usually fill. Its hard to describe, but I had random, but vivid visual memories pop up and it was fun, different from tripping, but still fun. My wife had a similar experience.

I'm definitely not some new age weirdo and we did it on a whim. I'm glad I tried it, but once was enough. You definitely need an open mind because the whole setup is weird.

Apparently if you take lsd then get in the tank you go to an alternate universe.

I kept falling asleep and jumping as I fell asleep, splashing around each time.

No. Your mom has to take LSD while she's pregnant with you and somehow give you special powers to do that.
