I know Fame Studio is there. Anything else to check out in the area? Will be nearby on Saturday (~45 min away) and wondering if it's worth the trip, since I've never been.

You are in gods country. Not much to get out and do, but driving certain areas is just knowing that we didn't come from tadpoles.

Wilson Dam, Natchez Trace, a lot of things if you have time to spend. Most of it is spread out and just nature stuff. It is a beautiful part of the country.

You say 45 minutes away. Are you going to be in Huntsville by any chance?

Definitely not a ton of hot spots. Fame is being run as an operating studio again, and it might not be what you expect.

The Shoals/Florence area has some reputable golf courses and the Tennessee runs through there. Some good outdoor activity.

Huntsville is nearby with more to do. Downtown has improved over the last few years, more bars, microbrews, etc.

If that's not enough, Nashville is up the road. Lynchburg, too. I've enjoyed the Jack Daniels.

Brown Sugar recorded there by the world's greatest rock and roll band. True story.

Downtown Florence, AL is surprisingly a pretty cool area. It's small, but they've got a fair amount of shops, bars and restaurants to keep you busy for a day.

This. Florence is the home to a D3 college, University of North Alabama. It has a pretty cool downtown area to check out. Singing River Brewery is worth a stop. Pie Factory is a good local pizza place. The Marriott there is supposed to be one of the busiest and nicest they have. Plenty of good golf in the area.

I really wish I could have talked my oldest into going to UNA. Dumbass went to UAB instead.....

My roommate from college is from there and played football for curley hallman.

I went once to pick up some furniture with him. Place seemed pretty boring.

Lived here all my life (42 years) not a lot to do, unless you want to fish or play golf. Muscle Shoals Sound in Sheffield is the other old studio and I am pretty sure it's a museum now. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is in Tuscumbia if it's still open (I heard it was struggling financialy but not sure). As far as downtown Florence, I have heard there is a lot to do there now, my cousin and his wife go there a lot. The Natchez Trace is scenic just watch out for deer and turkeys.

The Marriot is really nice, as is the resturant in the tower beside it. If you like golf check out the Robert Trent Jones courses. Pickwick Wheeler and Wilson lakes all offer world class bass and crappie fishing. Like the other poster said Huntsville has a lot more to do and is about an hour away. Sorry I can't be of more help, since my back got so screwed up I don't get out and do as much as I use to. Any specefic questions you may have I'll do my best to help out if I can though.

Ya don't say....I must know you. Ghost bridge would be badass if it was still accessible.
