From what I can tell ChatGPT seems pretty worthless.

Has anyone found a productive use for it?

ChatGPT did write me a nice headline for my next OT post:

I've been using it to write custom Suricata rules for clients.

Not a 100%, but gets me most of the way there.

Yeah, it can write lines of code I can lift and tweak.

I’ll ask for a suggestion to help build a desk. Maybe it’ll draw out the plans too. Hmmmmm….

It does seem to spit out clean, nicely commented JavaScript if you give it a general description of the inputs and outputs.

Nice.

I'd love to see the usage percentage of ChatGPT is just writing code for lazy developers.

It has helped me translate some stuff into English and has been pretty accurate. It has also helped me out with helping my daughter (no pics) with her chemistry homework.

Recipes, first drats of formal emails, write a cover letter based on a job description, general information searches pre-2021.

I have used BARD as well.

I'm in grad school and have used it a lot for discussion posts. Obviously I change it up a bit in case of AI writing detection software. So far so good

Not asking about 'AI like this'.

Asking specifically about ChatGPT.

I could never rely on it. I pay too much attention to bullshite statements. I'd spend more time inspecting the output for false statements, unsubstantiated assertions, etc., I may as well just write it myself.

However, we have people that try to use it for proposal content that don't realize how much legal risk it puts the company at, and they just ... trust it.

I've had it write informed consent forms for extractions, implants, sinus lifts, etc. I still have to edit them some, but they are pretty good.

It gave a a fantastic post op instruction form for extractions.

As an initial test I asked it to improve some website text.

It seemed to make everything read like a Buzzfeed headline.
