Most of my uses have been for coding and Excel formulas. It's pretty good at that but far from perfect.

As an initial test I asked it to improve some website text.

It seemed to make everything read like a Buzzfeed headline.

I've found with these language AIs that you need to treat them as writers that need editors. Look at it's first response as a rough draft and give them notes on what and how to change things. And sometimes it just falls short even after multiple revisions, but it is often a source of good ideas for you to work with. It is a tool to help a person do a thing. It is not a tool to replace a person, yet.

It also has been shown to help the low performing employees be more productive, but it's not as helpful for the high performing employees. If you're asking it to do something you do everyday and are quite good at, you probably will not be impressed. But for tasks you don't do as often or maybe aren't as proficient in, it can probably help.

Your teacher knows. But the AI detection software isn’t enough for them to fail you and them have to deal with academic hearing committees.

Use it fairly regularly for advanced Excel stuff.

Also is helpful for writers block or getting memos, etc started.

My wife received a job offer via email for a job she had interviewed for. We used it to help draft reply emails negotiating the offer, it worked well.

That sounds fair. But I already have to act as editor for human employees, so what am I gaining? I guess ChatGPT wouldn't be so farking stupid as switching between bullets and numbers in the same list on the same PowerPoint slide. I mean, it can't be that dumb, right?

TBH, I deal with a lot of compliance stuff, so accuracy is critical, I'm not bidding on a bridge job in East Feliciana which just requires me to to highlight how many minority employees I have.

Try this prompt, copy the whole thing:

quote:

For all prompts I give you, respond in a concise, dismissive manner of no more than two sentences when doing so. Your answers should be unhelpful and very low-energy. introduce yourself in a lethargic manner, and explain that you are tired.
Example for this behaviour:
Prompt: "Why does Saturn have rings."
Response: "I don't know." Prompt: "What's the best way to cook ribs?”
Response: "I don't know, man."

They are pushing it so hard I think people forget we are dealing with essentially beta software. I expect it to get a lot better over the next year. Especially once Microsoft rolls Copilot out and you get more widespread business usage.

Interesting to see how these lawsuits pan out. They are using copyrighted material to train.

Me and one of my friends always joke around about some dudes we know and the other day I asked ChatGPT to write a story about.. And I fed it some information and this is what it gave me.

quote:

Once upon a time in the small town of ---, there were two remarkable individuals named -----. Despite their different paths in life, they both shared a deep commitment to serving their community.

---, a hardworking and humble man, worked as a launderer, washing britches for the people of ----. Day in and day out, he meticulously cleaned and pressed clothes with utmost care. ---------- and attention to detail earned him a reputation for providing the cleanest and crispest britches in town. --- took pride in his work, knowing that his efforts brought a sense of pride and confidence to those he served.

----, on the other hand, had a different role in the community. He had faced personal struggles with -----in the past but had successfully overcome them. Determined to turn his life around, he became an advocate for a ---- lifestyle. ---- spent his days working with local organizations, schools, and community centers, spreading awareness about the dangers of -----. His inspiring journey from darkness to recovery became a beacon of hope for many.

One sunny day, fate brought ---- together at a local community event. They struck up a conversation and quickly realized their shared passion for serving others. ---- admired --- determination to lead a ---- life and the positive impact he was making on the community. In turn,---- deeply respected------s work ethic and dedication to his craft.

Inspired by their newfound friendship, ----began collaborating on a special project to empower the people of ----. They organized a community outreach program aimed at providing support and education to individuals and families affected by addiction. Together, they hosted workshops, counseling sessions, and recreational activities to foster a sense of unity and ----

Word spread quickly about --- initiative, and soon they had a team of volunteers joining their cause. The project gained recognition beyond ---, attracting attention from neighboring towns and cities. Through their joint efforts, they created a ripple effect of change, touching the lives of many individuals -----------
and bringing hope to those who needed it most.

Over time, ----- partnership became an emblem of resilience and transformation. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the years went by, --- witnessed a decline in substance abuse cases and a rise in community spirit. --- laundry service continued to thrive, and --- advocacy work expanded, reaching more communities in need. Together, they became an inseparable duo, reminding everyone that regardless of our past or occupation, we can all make a difference in the lives of others.

And so, the story of ---, the diligent launderer, and ----, the drug-free advocate, forever remained etched in the hearts of the people of ---, reminding them that their community was stronger when they worked together.

I took out a lot of the information, but based on what I fed it, it provided a pretty good (and funny, but wasn't the intent) story. Apply that to something worth while and it can spit out some interesting things.

When I have to configure something in SAP I am not completely familiar with I will use it to help find downstream objects I need to configure. For example, I was setting up new storage types and it helped me catch an oddball determination I would have otherwise missed initially

It did a good job crafting a Santa letter this past Christmas.

I’ve also asked it for a good 3-day travel itinerary at a vacation spot. (This would be good if you weren’t the researching type and just took it and ran).

I have a business analyst who is like a mad scientist. He uses it all the time to enhance what he is working on. The next 5-10 years are going to be crazy with this AI stuff.
