Going out of town in two weeks and have heard about their service where somebody will come to your house and walk and feed and play with your dog while you're gone. I've heard good things but interested to see if anyone here has used it and what uour thoughts are.

I haven't used them, but that sounds like the way to go....a whole lot better than having your dog stay in a kennel, IMO.

These types of services are much better than keeping your dog locked up in a small kennel for two weeks. We use Doggie Play Camp (225-354-9151) off Sherwood/I-12. The owner John is great and put pics on Facebook daily (I don't care but my wife and kids like that). More importantly, our dog LOVES to go there.

As for Camp Bow Wow, I think it is a franchise where some are better than others. I've heard the Baton Rouge one is good (no first-hand experience) but we did use one in Walker (If not Camp Bow Wow, it had a very similar name) and wouldn't go back.

FIL's GF used them extensively for her small dogs. Received rave reviews from her.

We use the one in Duluth and my dog freaks out in a good way when we tell her we are taking her to day care. She plays all day long and comes home and sleeps for two days after being there. Highly recommend.

Never used Camp Bow-Wow, but I send my dogs to Scouts Pet Care. They are awesome! They have a huge yard and let the dogs play all day. Never had a bad experience and I like that they text me pics of the dogs.

Any idea how much they charge to come to your house to feed/walk/play with your dog? I can't find those rates on their site.

I didn't know they offered that as a service. I'd actually use that though

dog sitting service

I personally would not allow any company inside my home while I am away.

Too much risk and even though there is a pre-screening (assuming there is) done on all employees, I'd rather bring my dog to a location of my choice.

And since your dog will need to go out multiple times a day, I would suspect a per visit charge of approximately $10.00. 4 times a day = $40.00, about the same price as boarding.

Boarding is per dog though.

True, but I don't believe the OP indicated he had 2 or more dogs.

Again, you need to weigh out what is better for your situation, however I would not want anyone inside my house while I am away.

Have you thought about what you would do if something came up missing? What if the person attending to your dog inside your home forgets to lock the door (and subsequently, your home is broken into)? Remember, you are counting on a very young individual to be responsible for your personal belongings inside your home.

For the cost difference, it's an easy decision ... for me.

My brother regularly uses CBW for my nephew's dog, and the pup seems to absolutely love it. My brother says they do a great job, convenient, friendly, and you get a daily report on your dog almost like you would from a child day care.

My roommate uses them in Lafayette and they are awesome. Sometimes he takes her up there for a few days when we arent going to be home but other times they just come over and take her out.

Awesome people that just love animals.

I dont have a dog yet but when I do I will gladly pay the extra cost to know that my pup is taken care of.

They also do training classes and his dog is 1 test away from being a service dog. Shes so fricking smart

She rings a service bell by the door when she needs to go out
