Anyone ever use "the negotiator" (PL) when booking rooms?

Last night I started early drinking and decided I didn't want to Uber back to Kenner. Got on Priceline, said I wanted a $75 room in the quarter. They got me one. I was shocked at that cheap.
The Renaissance, which is next to the Roosevelt. While not technically quarter, it was close enough.
I'll use them more often, I had never tried that before. The catch is, you give them CC info before you get to see what room you get. We got a nice King room on the 16th floor with a decent view. (which was $340 on the website)so I was happy.
If you never used the service before, you may want to check it out for last minutes deals.

Can you draw the boundaries for where you want to stay, or do you give a zip code or what?
I think Hotwire is the same thing. Heard its good but never used it.

I've gotten some pretty good deals using priceline's negotiator. They have the name your own price and the express deals, both of which have gotten me good deals on various hotels in various locations(Atlanta, New Orleans, STL, Houston, Dallas, etc)

They have different community names and such. If you're on a comp, they show you an outline of the area.
Basically if wan a specific area, you either enter an address or area name(West Energy corridor, near galleria, etc)

yes, you can pick a very specific area.

I used to do it more often but you can get some very good deals. There are a couple of sites that help with some advanced bidding strategies and also can give you an idea of what hotels you might get. Biddingfortravel and Betterbidding I think are the names. Hotwire is good too if you stick with the hotels that are highly rated by people who stay there.

I used it for a room in Reno awhile back---put in $50 and it excepted for fast, I then put in $33 and got the room. I really only works this well if you do it at the last minute, when they have empty rooms and they will take anything they can get

I have been burned by Hotwire, don't know if PL is as bad. Wife and I needed a room in Birmingham for the night and HW put us in the Hyatt on 280, not my favorite, but ok.
Got to the room, there was only a twin bed. I called the desk and said there was some error, we booked a room for 2, they said "no", there is a sofa in the room that someone can sleep on. Calls to Hyatt and HW got me nowhere. I found out the hotel people give the bottom of the barrel to 3rd party booking.

I just tried the Priceline name your price tool and did Downtown Nashville for $75. It brought me to some preview offer page and showed my offer of $75 with a subtotal of $150 and taxes of $35 for a total of $185. Does this mean my offer was not accepted?

I use the hell out of the negotiator. Got a room in Houston at the Jw Marriott king suite for 150 a night back in July. The absolute nicest room I've ever stayed in any where.

Name your own price not as good as the negotiator

Looks like you mistakenly put in a bid for two nights.
