That type of comedy is low hanging fruit.
Soul Man isn't even that good and nowhere close to being a classic. If remade today would fall into the same quality as White Chicks.

You would need to cast a black character for the wannabe black character.
You saw the grief that Elton John got for not having an LGBT social justice warrior to play him.
So even if you got a black character to play the wanna be black character, I guess whiteface is okay for the nonBlack scenes at the beginning and end of the movie.

One of those ridiculous black councilwomen was quoting this movie like it was gospel during that whole Denise Amoroso fiasco meeting.
