We are remodeling our bathroom and have seem a lot of stuff on refinishing/re-glazing tubs.

Anyone who has done this have any insight? Or know anyone in the Lafayette area who does this work. (Pickings look slim online in this area)

Example of what im hoping for:
Before

After

My sister in law had to refinish an old tub. All I remember was it was expensive.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy a tub that has those words in it.

I might know someone around Lafayette that does this kind of work. Let me text him to see if he's still doing it.

There's a guy here in Bham with a little business that does that: the Bath Tub Man. I used him on some rental properties. Typically, they will reglaze a bath tub for a couple hundred bucks. It looks like new when he's done and it's significantly cheaper than replacing the tub or going with a vinyl option like Bath Fitters or Rebath.

From what ive researched it typically costs $300-$400. Which could save us a lot of money from having to purchase and replace the old one.

No, but I've been with a girl so fine I'd drink her bath water under the right circumstances X

I know of two tubs that were professionally refinished.

Both are starting to severely chip and "bubble".

Ive done mine two years ago and it's starting to chip. I have few 3" diameter areas where it's flaking up. Pisses me off but what can you do?

I refinished a metal tub that had some small rust spots in it. Guy charged me $200 to redo it and it still looks great 5 years later.

Yeah this is definitely my hesitation too. If this has to be done every 3-4 years whats the point. Decision might depend on the warranty.

I did an old clawfoot once. It looked great for a few months but then it chipped, bubbled and turned yellowish. Figured it may have been by fault so I had a pro do it for a couple hundred dollars; same result. Ripped it out and put in a tile shower.

We had our guest bathroom sprayed (tub, shower surround and wall tile in bathroom) and our master bathtub sprayed. The guy did a phenomenal job and matches to any Sherwin Williams paint color. I think ours has a five-year warranty. I think the tubs were $350 each, and the surround areas were like $4 a square foot?

It's not worth it if you plan to stay in the house.Because it's marble, it won't hold up like a metal tub will to refinishing. Rip it out and get a new tub.

I used the Rustileun product a few years back on on one of our tubs. It actually worked out fairly well.

Don't expect perfection and a brand new tub. But it definitely cleaned things up. I also did the surround tiles (tub/shower combo) to make them white as opposed to the brown streaked tile that was there. Worked in that too.

Make sure you follow directions carefully regarding prep and make sure everything is as clean as possible. Take your time, and be patient and let it dry and cure properly.
