Driving home from LA Tech game tonight I was stopped in Quitman. Cruise was at 68 he says he clocked me at 77. Speed limit was 65. I know I was above the limit and stated that much to the cop but no way was I doing 77. I was in the right lane being passed by two cars. He likely clocked them and blamed me. Any help or thoughts appreciated. TIA.

This is where knowing the DA comes in. He can make that shite disappear with the quickness.

Local Quitman PD. Nice guy. Mentioned they were a municipality. As long as I paid early it wouldn't go on record or to insurance. Such a small town racket.

Yes, I have successfully contested a ticket. But I had the legal details on point. The cop clocked me without noticing the limit hadn't been posted properly and I was in a divided highway, which made the unposted limit just high enough to let me get away with it.

If you admitted to speeding at all you're probably screwed.

This has no relevance at all. It doesn't matter what someone else does.

There you go. Just pay it, that's all this small town cops are after. Good luck if you try and fight. You'll have to pay and it'll go on your record.

It's relevant if the cop clocked the wrong vehicle. Unfortunately, it's impossible to prove. Speeding tickets is just one of many examples of guilty until proven innocent. A cop's word is not proof anything happened.

I've never hear of this. Paying a ticket is an admission of guilt

My stepdad was the DA for 18 years. Yes, it's advantageous to know the DA

Talk to the city of parish prosecutor and just ask what your best options are. I do this with any ticket I get.

My wife got a speeding ticket in Sorrento once. She swore up and down she was not speeding, but like a good husband I didn't believe her.

A couple weeks later, there was a corrupt Sorrento cop in the news who had gotten caught driving speeds over 100 mph in his unit while off duty and out of jurisdiction. Turns out a many other people had received speeding tickets from this same cop who believe they were not speeding.

After checking the records, supposedly they found that he had not had his radar gun calibrated in a much longer time than what is required. The court ended up throwing out all the tickets he had written in the last XX months and my wife's was one of them.

Needless to say I felt like an a-hole for not believing her when she said she wasn't speeding. LOL

We didn't really contest the ticket though, just got lucky to fall under neath the blanket of others who contested.

I was once given a ticket by a BRPD officer outside of the city limits. Went to contest it several times on the designated court date and they kept pushing the date back until contesting it no longer became a viable option for me. Had to pay it. frick local government.

Sign of a bigger problem?

Wife Pics?

OP: Pay the ticket early, chalk it up to extortion.

Clarence Darrow/Atticus Finch ain't 2017 in Sorrento.
