I got a speeding ticket which I got expunged via traffic school, but I had an expired insurance form when I was pulled over.

I brought proof the next day to the traffic bureau in Nashville and they said that part of the ticket will be thrown out and I have nothing else to do for it.

Fast forward 3 months, I get a letter in the mail saying my license is suspended for failing to provide proof of insurance or paying the ticket.

I will go tomorrow to see wtf is happening, but what happens if I'm pulled over by chance? Would I go to jail?

This is so fricking absurd. Government can't do anything right.

It's quite possible.

Welcome to the police state that is America.

I had proof of insurance on my phone and he wouldn't accept it.

Which is technically against the law on his part.

And yes I admitted to speeding. License was suspended because of the insurance part.

State of La suspended my rights to get a hunting and fishing license over some state tax I didn't owe. I've lived in Texas since 1991.

I finally just paid it

I could pay $65 I think and unsuspend it, but I refuse until I talk to them one more time. I'm going to go scorched earth on these people tomorrow. About to text my boss and say I won't be in until lunch

Protip: For anything involving the courts, go to that court's website and look up your case. Confirm the status is resolved. Never, ever just take someone's word that something is taken care of if it matters when they frick up.

That goes for court proceedings, medical bills, anything of consequence.

Always get proof before you leave the first time. Records can get misplaced, lost, thrown out, and ignored. Keep your proof for when this happens you can rely on yourself and not someone else.

Not me, but happened to a family member. Said they didnt pay taxes in like 2012 or something, but they'd used HnR block for the past 6 years.

Had to hand carry the tax returns to BR to get a letter from Dept of Revenue, and STILL had to pay the reinstatement fee with the DMV even though it was done erroneously.

The kicker was a week later when a letter came in the mail saying they were missing the exact same tax return that had been hand carried to Baton Rouge and their license was going to be suspended.

And people want government run healthcare...

Yes. Louisiana insisted that I owed them $4500 in state income tax in 2011. I lived and worked in Mississippi the entire year and paid taxes there. Was told by the state tha it was all good until I renewed my license on my birthday two weeks ago only to find out it was suspended. Took a week to get the state to finally give me a letter to give to the dmv. Apparently not only did I not owe $4500, but was due a refund that I could not get bc it was past five years. Cost me $60 to clear the flag.

Yep. Got a speeding ticket crossing the I-10 bridge in Lafayette. Paid it.

Five months later, a NC Highway Patrol officer pulls me for no apparent reason. First thing he asks is if I am so and so. He already knew my name, so I was thinking something horrible happened at home (I was on the road for work).

He tells me I'm driving with a revoked license. I told him there was a mistake, but he wrote me up. Luckily, he didn't feel like arresting me.

I had to get to work (no work, no pay). I gave him ten minutes then got back on the road scared to death that someone else might pull me.

Turns out, NC dropped the ball. I had proof that I had paid the LA ticket, and a very nice lady at the DMV in Raleigh cleared it up. It cost me time and a little gas money to clear the ticket in Catawba County, but it's all good. That lady even called me back to make sure it was all cleared up two weeks later.

Had mine suspended once.

It was only suspended for 8 years though. Got it right back when I had the money.

Had my license suspended because of Minor in Possession of Alcohol. This was after a big concert so there were 20+ people in for the same thing so the judge was just rushing people through court. There was a choice between having your license suspended or doing community service. I did the community service.

Fast forward 2 years: I get pulled over and find out my license is suspended. Never got a notice in the mail because I no longer lived in the address on my license. Still had to pay over $300 to get my license back even though I did the community service and didn't know about it

I had mine suspended and then was arrested in Nola a few years later after being pulled over.

Long story short. I got a judge to wave a mando safety class. NC DMV never removed the suspension for missing said safety class. I called the NC DMV years earlier and was told the suspension had been lifted. NOPD informed me it hadn't.

Cost me $400
