There was a chick that lived down the street from me off of W. Parker when I was in school that was a bit crazy, but hot, and owed me $50. It was a Saturday night and I hadn't seen her in a couple weeks. I left my apartment for maybe 10 minutes at most. When I came back she was sitting in my living room and jumped up telling me that she'd been waiting for me all evening. I tell her to leave, she ignores me and follows me to my room where I watch her not 4 feet from me pick up $50 off my dresser and say "here's the money I owe you!" She tried to argue with me when I called her on it. I ended up telling her that I'd let the $50 slide if she left then and I never saw her again. That was 12 years ago now. Haven't seen her since.

big old school purple LSU jacket. Ya know one of the ones from the mid 90's. We all had one at some point in time.

Could have just said a Starter jacket and that would suffice. I had a Michigan one. I was an idiot. Can't believe my dad let me have that. I liked the Fab Five. I looked like an idiot with my black socks. Thinking about that reminds me to let my kids be retarded with what they wear for the most part. Except for skinny jeans.

I couldn't remember who made them. I had a Miami Dolphins one and a Chicago Bulls one that were both awful.

I got caught stealing a pack of gum from the checkout line when I was 5. I opened it on the way home and started chewing it. My mom smelled it as we pulled into the driveway and asked me where I got it. We turned around and drove back to Kroger where I had to apologize to the manager. One of those moments you never forget. I felt like scum.

I sure have, multiple times. First was a kid taking something from our yard, we just told the kids parents and dealt with the situation.

The other time the idiots next door (massive home schooled "religious" family, but she just adopted and pocketed the cash) kept stealing our shipped coffee and we finally caught them in the act. Well, come to find out, he was reselling the coffee to people in another state so he got hit with all sorts of fraud and spent a decent chunk of his life in jail.

Got my pocket picked one night in the quarter. I wasn't as drunk as the guy thought I was. Grabbed him and unloaded on him with a haymaker. He fell back against the fence, dropped the wallet, and left. I didn't even have any cash in the wallet. It was just a reaction without thinking. And it was very stupid; I'm lucky I didn't get shot or stabbed.

In high school I worked at a Fred's Dollar Store, (OT Baller). One Saturday my boss told me to get in the "crows nest" to look for shop lifters. The crows nest is little upper room lookout with a one way mirror. Within a few minutes I spot this lady putting multiple kids jeans inside this huge homemade fanny pack under the front part of her skirt.

I got down and pointed her out to my boss who called the police. They waited until she got outside then stopped her and asked her if she had anything, to which she denied. They had a lady cop come in the parking lot and frisk her and pulled out about 10 pairs of jeans from her fanny pack. She was arrested, handcuffed and put in a patrol car.

It was right before school started and I felt bad for the lady as she was probably getting clothes for her kids.

I'd actually like to steal it from Vaught Hemingway if you'd like to join me. Ranks #1 in the dumbest banners in the nation.

Most toolboxes you can get a extra key for if its already open. If its a weather guard box just get the serial # off the inside label of the box and order a new one. If it isn't check around either on the lock itself or inside for some sort of marking. Usually something like K125 or something similar. Just google that # and the name brand of the toolbox and you should be able to get duplicate keys made. You can either go to a locksmith or Ebay.

I probably should have called the cops

What good would this do? There is nothing for the cops to do once you got your shite back. They come out, you tell them "he stole my tools" the guy says "no I didn't. This guy found his tools out in the parking lot and is trying to accuse me of stealing". It becomes your word against his and even if he admits to it, as long as you have your stuff in hand already, they will not do anything about petty theft.

When I was a teenager, someone came into our backyard and broke into our shop. My mom saw them as they were leaving out the shop... with her bike. She grabs her gun and goes outside and they were long gone. I honestly think she was hoping to shoot one. She called the cops, they pretty much said they couldn't do anything unless she had the serial number of the bike, otherwise they could not prove someone had her bike. A few days later she was outside planting flowers.. Saw a guy pass on a bike that looked exactly like hers (which doesn't mean it was hers), she jumped in my dad's truck, following the guy to the hospital, where he put the bike up and went inside. She went take it.

I never caught anyone stealing anything like a bunch of tools or anything else of value, but ive seen people steal out of a convenience store.

I have a toolbox on my truck that doesn't lock because it did not come with a key when I bought the truck (my fault for not changing the lock out)

No need to change the lock out, dummy. There's a little code on the lock next to the keyhole, a series of numbers and letters. Type that in to Google and you'll be able to order a key online. Done it myself, and most of the online retailers will give your money back or a replacement if the keys font work

There's really only a handful of different locks used for those toolboxes. You can order keys to unlock 99% of them. Hopefully that should make you feel more secure

ETA:

At age 14 I was home alone when our house was broken into and had no idea until after the fact

Freshman year of HS I skipped school and stayed home without telling anybody. Our house was on the market and apparently some guy had been watching out house for a few days to see when people would be gone. I hear the front door open and I assume it's my mom and the school had called to tell her I wasn't there and she was coming to catch me. So I ran into my room and locked the door, turned the lights out and hide under my bed. I hear what I think is my mother making her way through every room in the house until they get to my door, see that it's locked and move on. Hear the person leave shortly after that. Maybe 30 minutes the garage door opens and it's my mom "again" and Im thinking damn she really wants to catch me. Hear her looking through the house again. She leaves. After 3 I figure it's safe to come out of my room because I'm supposed to be home anyway. Shortly after that a freaking police officer rings the doorbell. I think it's the truancy officer and I'm in deep shite, but he says "yeah I'm here about a report of a break in"

Turns out the first person I heard come in the house was actually a burglar. The neighbor saw him and called my mom, who came home to investigate which was the second person I heard.

I came clean to my mother about a year later
