Weather? No.
Mechanical/Crew? Yes.
If they say they didn't have crew available because the previous one timed out with the weather delay or the crew was delayed from an inbound flight due to weather, you should still receive a comped room.

Appropriate meal expenses are provided not to exceed 24 hours from delay or until passenger resumes travel, whichever occurs first.
Maximum Meal Allowances
Maximum authorized meal allowances for all domestic cities is $7.00 for any meal.

Had to stay the night in an airport a few weeks ago due to weather. If you don't go to a hotel or get a voucher the website sleepinginairports.net helped me find a comfy place to chill for 8 hours overnight.
