Yes, a very over hyped shite show. Basically a large drinking festivity with bad acts serving as the sideshow.

Was my first experience and I was there the first weekend. Drove 7 hours in storming weather and showed up to a mud pit. I enjoyed the act that I wanted to see, but missed The Who since it was playing at the same time. If all the acts I wanted to see were staggered so that I could see what I wanted to in 2 days, it would have been the best weekend ever. Hanging around to see a bunch of acts I have no interest in while getting to catch only a few I want to see over 6 days isn't really my cup of tea.

I've had some epic times there in the past but also had times where the crowds and conditions were horrible. I love live music but hate crowds, long lines, etc.

After a huge non alcoholic all night seniors only bash, my parents decided to buy myself and some other byrd high school class of 2014 graduates tickets to jazz fest. Boy were we excited!! In anyicipation of the festivities, we went to the goodwill store to see if there were any hip tye dye shirts we could purchase or any super old faded jeans. My dad gave me a few iron on flower and peace sign patches from his hippy days in the 70s. After ironing on the flower patch to my faded boot cut wranglers, slipping on my strawna ice box pie tye dye tee and lacing up my doc martens, i was ready for jazz fest. I met up with my crew of bros from the soccer team (all wearing our fresh byrd letterman jackets of course ha ;). Then we start the road trip down to the legendary city of new orleans. My mom drove my group of friends five hours in her van from shreveport to see the greatest band of all time, PHISH! I just couldnt contain my excitement. The whole way down, i was chugging Dr Peppers and eating skittles. When we got to baton rouge, we stopped to eat at TJ ribs so we wouldnt be at jfest with empty stomachs. I got the steak with cole slaw and potato salad. My mom got the ribs. Both were delicious, i wish we had a tj ribs in shreveport. Little did i know that legendary les miles conducted his show there. Boy what a treat! Here i am on my way to see the most legendary band in the most legendary city following in the foot steps of the greatest LSU coach of all time. I felt like a kid in a candy store i tell you waht.

So we continue down to new orleans and find a great deal for parking next to the fairgrounds for only $70! We unload the crew and start walkig to the horse track. Man there were crZy hippy people everywhere. I thought to myself, "wow this is what the 60s mustve been like". People are just out on the street drinking beers IN PUBLIC. There were some great vendors in front of the race track selling merchandise. I bought a straw fedora for $40 from a really kind black kid that said hed cut me a deal. Thank god he wasselling those hats because i was still peeling from the seniors only pool party bash from the weekend before :P. The crowd is unbelievable, we cant move anywhere so we decide to get something to eat. As im standing in line to get a strawberry lemonade, trey kicks it all off with Kill Devil Falls, one of my favorite songs of all time. The crowd was really movin and groovin. I suddenly got separated from my group of buddies so i was just all alone with the crazy nola hippy people. "Man, this was my intiation into manhood" i thought to myself. As trey segued into riff, a man asked if i wanted a cigarette and i was hells yeah dude. Starting pugfing it down about halfway and got super lightheaded. A nice hippy lady behind me offered me her chair. At this point, its just wayyyy too hot to be wearing my letterman jacket but theres no way im taking it off. We were 5A district champs so i keep moving up to the front of the crowd. Pushing and winding just trying to get a closer look at that beautiful orange hair if trey anastasio.

Then all of a sudden- lawn boy, party time, ocelot oh yeah. I junp into a mash pit of hairy 30 somethig year olds and start dancing. It was like the biggest party ever. Still feeling the buzz from the first cig? I decide to livht another because what the hell. Its right around that time that the first set ends. We all sit down and the girl next to me asks if i want some acid. And i was like citric acid? Like orange juice? So im just like okay. She gives me the paper to put in my strawberry le
Onade. After that everything started making my head spin!! I look down at my tie dye shirt and monsters are jumping out at me. Then the band comes back up: my palms are sweaty, knees weak, whole body aching, still rocking my letterman jacket in hope that trey sees that i was a district champ. Then we start into that down with the disease baseline and i feel the sudden urge to kick my shoes off and start flailing around like the wacky wavy inflatable arm guy at the car dealerships. I picked up a hoola hoop off the ground and hooped the whole song. For 14 minutez. I cant belive phish played a song that long. Ive never heard a song that long in my life.

Love jazz fest. Food, beer, friends, and making new friends. Oh, and that good music too.

Usually volunteer at a beer booth for half a day on a Friday and then will pick another day or two to go.
It's amazing the people that we meet from all over the world.

I will say that Saturday was the only time I've ever had even a minor complaint. That was insanely crowded in some areas.

I will take jazz fest all day long over bayou country superfest.

Yep. I like great music, great food, art, and people as well. Not sure why anyone would "hate" Jazz Fest. There is something for everyone. It is a good time. Why hate it?

I don't get your complaint?
The word "stupid" in your comment, is a predicate adjective, not a noun.
Also, when you used "more" it's an adjective. It's never a noun. Your two attempts at putting articles in front of what you think are nouns were just dumb.

The whole point of using articles is to identify nouns, which you obviously don't know how to do.

Well done. I read the whole thing.

All that I could think about, though, was how hot you were with the Letterman jacket.
