Anyone aware of common issues with 19-21 F150s with the 5.0 10 speed?

Getting rid of my junk of a GM, the 5.0 is the most reliable V8 on the market outside of the Tundras. So far the 10 speed seems to have good reviews.

We had a 19 with 5.0
No issues for the 42k miles that we owned it.

The older the powertrain, the better it will be. Whether Ford or Ferrari.

Can’t vouch for the transmission but that motor is solid (with proper upkeep).

I can't believe Ford has put
AFM on the 5.0s, have they not seen what has happened with the GMs.

I put 50k+ in about 18 months on my 2019 with the 5.0 and never had an issue. Loved that truck.

The GM engines are having issues with the lifters. The Coyote is DOHC.

GM 3.0 diesel is the engine to get.

Don't know why the V8s have so many problems. The performance cars ( Cadillac Blackwing, Camaro, Corvette) do not suffer from the widespread lifter issues the truck engines do.

5.0 is a great engine especially with boost.

The 5.0 is an excellent engine, just don't let the trucks computer tell you when to change the oil. Just do that between 3k and 5k miles, and you'll be fine. The only real issues they've had is oil pressure problems due to worn cam bearing journals, caused by excessive miles between oil changes. While the oil will still technically be within spec, there's a lot of combustion byproducts in it by 10k+ miles. Oil and a filter are relatively cheap insurance.

I have heard great things about the 3.0 but I have such a bad taste in my mouth I am done with GMs. Not to mention they only seem to put those in the top end models and want 70k for them.

Between the AFM and the horrible transmissions GM should have the shite sued out of them. Going on almost 15 years and it's only gotten worse.

Well they’re all Fords so they have that going against them.

Have a ‘21 with 44k miles and no issues. Ford did add AFM but it is much different than GM’s versions that have them so much trouble. You can’t tell when the truck is using it or not. Tow/haul mode disables it as well as Sport mode I think.

I am not risking it, hence the stop at 21.

I have a 2020 F150 5.0. On May 5th of this year (57.000 miles) 7th gear constantly jerked. Took it to Robinson Bros Ford Baton Rouge and didn’t get my truck back until Aug 16. Mechanics ordered parts for transmission and still couldn’t get it to work properly so they ended up replacing the entire transmission. They never had a loaner available so they said for 3 1/2 months so I spent over $6500 on a truck rental from Enterprise.

You can google The 2019-22 F150 5.0 10 speed transmission issues and find a lot of issues with it.

I’m genuinely surprised with the 2.7 eco I have married to the 6 speed. Solid set up with the power I need. Boat iced down and full of fuel is 4K and I don’t even feel it back there. It’s the heaviest thing I will haul and after 70k miles, I am satisfied.

Not necessarily the 2.7s but the 3.5s have already had enough issues, especially if you pull with them some. Staying clear of the turbo V6s.

My dad has that truck and I really like it. The only thing he’s had to do is get the touch screen replaced. It rides better than my 5.7 Tundra, has better features, and has better acceleration. I also like the different drive modes you can use. It was a close second when I was searching a few months ago
