Anybody know if you can get residential speed limits lowered in subdivisions in LP?

Maybe Delgado has some pull since he wants all the streets in BR to be 20 mph

You can make anything happen if you have money.

Yeah.

So all the teenagers/college age kids see how much air they can get.

Best of luck getting it lowered. I have kids, and have lived multiple places. But the one thing that won't change is idiots speeding through residential neighborhoods.

Maybe don't let your kids play in or near the street

Since most roads in LP are gravel, there is a natural speed limit.

Has to be a way. I see 20mph in areas here all the time. Plus a stop sign, every fricking block.

If anyone has driven Champions Forest from Spring Cypress to Louetta, y'all know.

How do you catch air off a speed bump?

We had stop signs added to intersections in our neighborhood. The process wasn't too bad, although I wasn't involved. It involved a request to the city/parish, it had to be reviewed by the city council, and we had to pay for the installation. Took a couple months if I recall. ETA: In Walker, LA, but outside city limits.

For the record, the stop signs do nothing and are actually MORE dangerous than not having them. Pedestrians and children assume protection by the stop signs, when people tend to roll through neighborhood stop signs. DOTD has multiple studies on this. Even with these studies and intelligent arguments against, our dumbass HOA did it anyway. Their argument against speed bumps (or humps), was there is an increased liability by having them.

Rolling a basketball in the street is pretty effective at getting them to slow down.

Forest Ridge (in the LP) did this a number of years ago. The speed limit in the subdivision was 25, it got reduced to 15 mph.

Believe members of the HOA board went to the Livingston Parish Council and made the request.

It's an uphill battle. You will first have to show a definitive need (or enough of a doubt) to the regulatory body. From that, they may consider a speed and/or safety study to actually determine the real benefit. Thing is, they'd be paying for it.....

Teach your kids to play in the yard instead of the street. Problem solved.
