Anyone on the OT ever try to help a suicidal friend by calling the EMS on them only to have it come back and bite you?

Short version: Mutual friend of mine tried to OD on pills Monday, and failed. Went to his house Tuesday, distracted him and took his handgun he had sitting on his sofa. He went ballistic and started hitting himself. Called the EMS, and they took him to University. Hospital let him out after one day. Now is sending harassing text messages to my wife and I saying he is going to string me up and eat my heart. Also threatening to show up at my work(basically dared me to come to work today.) I can now understand why people are cold and uncaring. Maybe I should have just not gotten involved and just let him do what he wants to do.

Tell that dude frick him. You were trying to help him and that you dare him to come to your work because you will do what he couldn't do to himself. Obviously he is dealing with some type of mental issue, but if he wants to threaten you.. then thats where you have to fight fire with fire.. Don't let him make you go through your days having to worry about what he might do.

Should've let him do it. It's his life, his choice, not yours.

Contact 911 and tell them you have an unstable individual who is threatening himself and others. They will contact the PD and coroners office to have him committed.

Omg. Challenge accepted. That would set me on fire if a close friend did that. If that is your good friend, that is the fricking bat signal to get that friends family and everybody else involved. Wow. I'm riled up just thinking about what if my friend did that.

So basically you give zero fricks about your friend or his life.

If he threatened to come to your work then he could be arrested for "making a terrorist threat". At least that's the case in AL.

I hear about that on the news from time to time. Whenever someone makes a threat involving someone or their place if employment, then they get arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat.

I'm not a lawyer, judge, or cop (thank god), I am just relaying what I have seen on the news and read in the newspaper.

Good luck, hopefully you and your friend can find peace.

That's not what I'm saying.
Why should someone else get to make that decision for the guy? It's selfish.
I'd have reported the OP for theft of a firearm.

People with no reason to live are capable of the worst violence. He's willing and wanting to die, and committing violence will probably help his cause by having an officer shoot him. I would seriously pack heat today and be ready to shoot
