In a small town, they look for people going 10 mph hoping it will be someone from out of town. It might suck, but thats just what happens.

They need revenue son.
Yep, they already blew through the Haynesville Shale bonus money they got for leasing parish land and with NAt Gas so cheap the royalty payments are down in the dirt.

You must have missed the radar detector thread earlier this week.

Man, that sounds high as hell to me. I would call and ask if you can get it knocked down a bit by going to traffic school or something like that.

Doesn't work in desoto. Just don't bother yourself or waste your time with it. You'll end up paying the full amount in the end so just pay it now and move on.
Don't speed in desoto parish.

I grew up in Farmerville on beautiful Lake D'Arbonne. All summer long Folly Beach, which is making a comeback, had parties with live bands every Sat. night. People came from all over, got drunk and got in fights. The cops would come and take everyone involved to the courthouse. After 15 or 20 minutes they'd let the Farmerville people go and hold the out of town folks until they bailed out. I guess they told the people we all paid our fines and they should do the same.
We used to go canoeing on the Brazos out from Cleburne, TX when I was in my 20's. The cops there would stop you for anything and they searched all of the young people's cars for drugs. One time my buddy got pretty drunk and fought me over driving until I let him. He had 23" biceps and benched about 460 lbs back then. He got stopped and got a DWI. It was a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend. The Cleburne cops told us we'd have to come back and get him Tuesday. They said they wouldn't see the judge until then. When we picked him up, he had a black eye. He said the cops did it to him getting him out of the car. They told him he would be wise to use a local attorney instead of bringing one in from Dallas. He did everything the way they said to do it and paid them and the local attorney. A guy from Cleburne told us afterwards that the Judge, the DA and the law firm they recommend were all cousins, brother-in-laws or some such relation.

Was it 80 in a 70 on 49? Right after speed limit drop?

I believe it's 75 on 49 in Desoto, correct? So you were going 85 and got a speeding ticket?

Nah....DeSoto Parish has always been hell on speeders with high fines even before the Haynesville Shale.
And I believe the bulk of the money does to the District Attorney's Office, the Court, and the IDB not the sheriff's office.

yes, 75 in Desoto. I want to say it was near Mansfield, to be exact.

had my cruise set on 80, cop claimed I was going 86, but "cut me a break" by giving me a ticket for 1-10 mph over

I got one this week in a little shite arse town in North LA called Baskin. You know it's a po-dunk town when the actual police chief gives you a ticket and for location it says 'near beauty shop'. I was going 61 in a 50.

Baskin holds the dubious distinction of being the town in Louisiana which derives the most revenue from traffic fines and forfeitures, according to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor. Traffic fines and forfeitures account for 84% of the town's budget.[3]

I wouldn't care if everyone who supported or defended this policy dropped dead right now.

And that's one of the main reasons why I moved out of Louisiana.
