I don't see that happening with the shortage of busses, the turnaround time it takes to pick kids up and drop them off, and how rural the parish is...they're going to have these kids in school past midnight?

I would consider school a break compares to what the able bodied kids have probably been doing in the area

heard from a teacher at Live Oak that they are discussing having Live Oak go to school in the mornings then having Denham kids go to school at Live Oak in the afternoons.

If live oak will be open and able to do that, then DS should be open at the same time. They both got flooded.

Plus DS principal said either they were going to school at DSHS, or they weren't going to school.

It wouldn't surprise me if they consolidated some of these schools as there will a statistical percentage of students who just don't return home or back to school in LP.

Not true! Live Oak had a little flooding but no damage they are ready to go.

Looks like it going to be LO kids until 1:00 then Denham kids at LO 1 something till.

Denham High is probably going to be a total loss.

Football season will go ahead as planned.

Nothing is official yet though so things could change.

Player/parent meeting tonight at 7. Very doubtful but I'm hoping we may get some info on classes as well.

I don't think Albany got any water, Holden got a little water but nothing too bad in the classrooms, and everybody sayin' DS is fricked.

During the meeting the principal of DS high said the students would be back in class sometime during the week of a Labor Day or the following week at the very latest.

Also said the students would not be separated, they will be together at DS or together at another undetermined school. A final decision on that should be announced this Friday.

Football practice resumes tomorrow morning at 8.

No link, take it FWIW, I was at the meeting and that's what was said.

Any water that got into a LOHS building was shopvaced up in 20 minutes. DSHS had every classroom (minus a few in a 2 story building) receive at least 3 feet of water.

He never said that. He said that DSHS students would be kept together and not split up and spread around the other schools in the parish.

I know their official position is "we have no date set". However, LPSB would not allow football and other sports to resume unless they had a plan in place to get kids back in school soon after. They just aren't ready to make the announcement until all details are able to be addressed. Allowing football to start is a promise that schools won't be far behind. Can you imagine the PR nightmare if they allowed schools to play football knowing kids would be out of school for 2 months or more?

You dont need schools in order for you kids to learn respect, hard work, and integrity. Put them little rascals to work in your hood. Tell them this is their future life unless they do well in school.

How dare you suggest that self reliance is a pathway to success. You continue to talk like this and it's straight to the reeducation camp for you.
