i was talking to a coworker who has deep connections with LP school insiders. He assured me that something will come out this week regarding your question.

From my understanding, all of the schools were underwater. All of them will have to be mold free certified. It can take a while.

I heard 15 out of 43 schools were affected, yet, I also hear 75% of housing units were "destroyed".

Are all the schools built up in the air, or are they all clustered in non-flood areas?

put those kids to work.

plenty to be done.

i would be begging for school to start if I grew up in a flood area with my pops.

The superintendent's home took over 3 feet of water. Many schools are unusable. Majority of the students homes took on water.

Definitely not til next week, possibly 2 more weeks

These kids have been working their assess off helping flood victims. I know all the athletic teams have been helping people this entire week getting things out of their homes.

Anyone venture to guess if they will open the schools that can be opened and then open the rest later in the year?

I heard from a teacher at Live Oak that they are discussing having Live Oak go to school in the mornings then having Denham kids go to school at Live Oak in the afternoons.

Not sure if it just got pass the discussion phase but they are trying to get kids to school ASAP!

That's what we did in Slidell after Katrina and I would imagine you would do the same since it is going to take way to long for the schools to get back up and running
