Where is said LSU program? LSU BR doesn't have a nursing program

And he still has to do pre reqs which is another two years.

CRNA for this guy is still 7+ years away PA would be ~4-5 huh?

I agree nursing is the easier way of entry in this case but it would be more time consuming I would think for the same salary

My wife is a CRNA....you make it sound simple. Anesthesia schools aren't tripping over themselves to offer program spots to clueless students, that's for damn sure.

Yup. And he has to get into nursing school....some nursing schools have waitlists now from the high demand in students. So he could sit a year just waiting to get into the nursing program.

Also...then once he gets out of nursing school he needs to be able to find an ICU nursing job. He might not find that right away, might have to start with a med/surg type nursing job first and work his way into an ICU position. And isn't CRNA school pretty competitive as well?

master's degree programs tend to be more competitive than bachelor's programs

PA school and finding a great PA job isn't easy. It's not for everyone.

It doesn't sound like it would be a good fit for you.

Maybe look into X-ray tech school

I know I cant do it. Im sure PAs are very intelligent but doctors have a crazy work load, responsibility, bad home life, and Id fail out of med school. And i wouldnt get it. Only plus doctors have is more pay, more respect, and they get women

PA seems to be a good balance. Admissions are competitive, but it is not quite as painful of a process as applying to MD or DO medical schools in the US.

The PA's I know seem to love their job and are compensated pretty well.

That seems a little high. That's basically the same or higher than most doctorate degrees

Patient load for me is lighter in the winter/spring. I see follow-up patients first, then new visits second. I have no other duties but to see patients. Right now I'm usually done with patients before noon but in the summers I'll be seeing upwards of 30+/day. After I'm done seeing patients I'll review old radiology/laboratory reports to make sure I haven't missed something that was changed for the final read.

I currently work with 4 other PAs and a physician that oversees us. He's a old retired Navy captain, very cool, trusts us, respects the profession. He's there when I have questions.

I'm as happy as can be, but that's because this job fits me like a glove. I was previously in the military so I knew my patient population before I even took this job. Some of my colleagues that graduated with me are on their second and third jobs. It just depends on the person.
