One summer when I was still wet behind the ears I worked for this tool testing company. Harsh hours and now looking back it was fairly dangerous considering I didn't know jack shite and was in a cage dealing with high pressure shite... but anywho.... the hours were insane. We had 2 guys and would work 2 week schedules pretty much with one guy being on call one week and the other not. (There was no calling, we just called it that for some reason). Basically one guy worked a shite ton more one week than the other than the next week was the opposite. We had to have the booth staffed and working 24/7.

Here would be a typical 2 week work schedule for us:

1/1 Mon: 3pm-7am 16hr
1/3 Wed: 7am-3pm 8hr
1/4 Thur: 3pm-7am 16hr
1/6 Sat: 7am-3pm 8hr
1/7 Sun: 7am-3pm 8hr
1/8 Mon: 7am-3pm 8hr
1/9 Tue: 7am-7am 24hr
1/10 Wed: 3pm-3pm 24hr
1/12 Fri: 7am-7am 24hr
1/13 Sat: 3pm-7am 16hr
1/14 Sun: 3pm-7am 16hr

So like the 2nd week of that schedule would have been my 'on-call' week. Killed the OT, but lucky I didn't kill myself with the lack of sleep and being a knuckle head

Working a 52 day turnaround right now. We work a 13 on and one off schedule for fatigue days.

Although I'm switching to a different refinery at the end of the turnaround and won't get a day off this month. I have to do training on my fatigue day at new refinery.

I worked a fire rebuild in Aruba back in '01. 13 months of 7 x 13's with about 6 days off during the entire time. Go to work, dive for an hour after work, drink a six pack, sleep, repeat.

The second to last shutdown I worked I went 24 days without a fatigue day (my choice, I was cool with my supervisor and foreman and the shutdown was only expected to last a month)... glad I did it but I took two days off after that to try to get back on track... the shutdown went 11 weeks longer than planned so I went back to 13 and 1
