I'm on day 12 and looking forward at my day off like a fat kid loves ice cream. Starting to lose focus

My old company didn't allow this

Always tired during T/A's, the older I get the worse they become

I hear that. This one has been a nasty bitch

That's not per API standards.

Usually if I stay on one shift (days or nights) it helps, but I drag arse normally

I worked 62 days straight on a turnaround before the fatigue days became mandatory.

Such BS.
Suddenly working 30 days becomes a problem when it is a turnaround

True, the only reason we get a day off is no double time

Plant operates seasonally so once we start, we run continuously and can't justify hiring up to cover days off.
The result is 120 days in a row every year for everyone.

Yes, we don't get those here. If we have a turnaround it's start to finish.

OK actually.
Part of the process is recirculative so we just got everything running tonight.
One boiler with a tube leaking has been the biggest hiccup so far.
Saw y'all have been venting a little lately.

We've been hitting it hard lately. We will be hiring 12 first few months of next year to work at the carbon black plant.

We shut down the whole turnaround every other Sunday. We used to work pretty much start to finish without a day off.

I heard a cogen project was under construction but didn't realize y'all were staffing it.
Sounds complicated.
