re: Any of y'all use after market brake rotors?

Yep. But never had fade, warpage, etc., in my stockers, either. And that is with pulling a loaded uhaul up and down that terrian from Pensacola to Savannah to upstate NY to MD and to Savannah again. Never once any problem.

Problem is that my tires are much bigger and heavier than stock, so I don't want to keep buying OEM and burning them out way sooner.
It boils down to:
buying bigger aftermarket rotors and calipers to compensate for the big wheels
or
buying original equipment more frequently
If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time, I'd go with aftermarket brakes...baer or wilwood

Nice, soft ride then.
Brake shimmy seems like it would be the rotors. I imagine they are working hard with that load.
Do you do a lot of stop and go driving while towing?

Have you talked to the shop that you got your after market wheels and tires from
Stock OEM Ford wheels

Nope. Up and down that terrain in upstate NY with a loaded bed and uhaul was enough.
BTW, what year is your Tacoma? Do you run larger tires, too? Had a friend who did and put Tundra brakes up front. PITA but it worked well when done. Not for me though

I'd upgrade to 4 piston calipers and better pads before changing rotors.

You would be surprised how well they ride.

Tow a light boat every couple of weeks and a heavy glass boat about twice a year. Stop and go traffic for my commute to work kills me.

ridiculous comment by that guy.
SS lines, quality rotors and performance pads should take care of OP's needs.

How much did you pay for those? Is that a good brand?
Posted on 11/5/14 at 10:58 am to PapaPogey
EBC is top shelf stuff.
rotors and the green pads ran me just over $300 for everything

Seeing this and given that you have so much more weight at the wheels, you may benefit from a rotor that is gonna dissipate heat better.
Stock rotors have so little tolerance in them that they are apt to warp quickly, especially under heavy loads (more weight= higher heat).

Decisions decisions. I'm gonna run by the shop either today or tomorrow and see what they say about it. frick I hate spending money on this shite

the EBC sport USR series rotors are not that aggressive. They are very thick and have the capability of quick heat dissipation as stated earlier. Coupled with the Green Truck/SUV pads they do a very good job at slowing down heavy loads such as your truck.

Cool I'll look into them if I decide on the aftermarket route

Laugh and misquote me all you want but stock sized brakes are designed for stock sized wheels and tires. Gimmick upgrades like drilled rotors and softer pads only get you so far.

Slotted are fine
Drilled are not.
Drilled rotors can crack between the holes in the rotor due to heat stress. And their benefits just aren't noticeable on a street driven car.
