If so, how long did the interview process take? Seems like there is no end in sight.

I started interviewing last month. Have two more interviews this week. The HR person called me today to add two more interviews next week.

Wow. That's a lot of interviews. It's obvious you're a serious candidate. I hope you get it.

I'm not in-house, fwiw. Just giving my support.

Thanks. I hope so as well. It would be a big pay increase and no more billable hours. Hell, they could pay me the same amount as long as I don't have to bill any more hours.

Good lord. The less stress alone makes it awesome.

Ah, paradise.

I've done interviews for in-house positions, but I'm still with the firm life right now.

Good luck to you.

I am not an attorney but had a similar situation of adding more and more interviews before getting my current job. It worked out well and I love it but I interviewed with 6 individuals over the course of 4 visits. It feels like you are getting jerked around but they probably made some poor hires in the past and want to be more careful.

Is it just me or are in-house positions becoming the "great 'retirement' option" for attorneys who have been practicing 30+ years? I'm sure it's not like that in the bigger markets, but that's what it seems like to me when I talk to younger attorneys trying to crack into it over here.

I am guessing the people you are interviewing with will be your "customers".

They probably all want to have a look at you/talk with you, etc.

Sounds like it's going well.

Is it a major bank or something else? Just trying to make sure I don't have any cautionary tales for you.

It really depends on the company, and even with the same company the process can be very different depending on how badly they need someone.

I had a really quick process (less than a week from first contact to me getting an offer), but it took two months for a co-worker who started about a month before me. They can take their time when just expanding the legal department, but will move quickly if they have a sudden increase in workload or have to replace someone unexpectedly.

Not a bank per se. I don't want to say the name, but it is a Fortune 100 company.

Exactly. The additional interviews are with people in similar positions, but different regions of the country.

Just checking. I deal with the in house folks for a few prominent banks based in NY/NJ and one in particular makes people suicidal within weeks.

I'm in-house but can't shed much light on this because I got my spot based on a relationship.

But if it's a Fortune 100 company, it likely is publicly traded and there is a ton of due diligence involved in hiring in-house counsel.

Be patient.

It may be too late, but make sure your social sites comments/pics are clean.

Hate for you to miss out because of a drunken post about women, minorities, politics etc.

I could picture it being similar to "consulting" in your later work years.
