Any car mechanics??

My son is having an issue with a 2013 grand caravan. The key is stuck in the ignition and will not come out. He says the key will turn but the vehicle will not start. Would a dead battery cause this or could the key fob battery be dead. any ideas appreciated.

This actually just happened to my mom's caravan as well.

A similar "problem" also happens with my 2008. After parking I'll shift into park and turn the vehicle off, but the key will be stuck. I then have to restart the vehicle, shift into drive, then back to park and then the key will come out.

the Park/Neutral switch is bad.Vehicle does not recognize the transmission is in Park.Tell him to put transmission in neutral and see if he can remove the key.

Make Google your friend. Believe it or not, many people have likely had the same issue as you and posted a solution online. I do this every time I have an issue with my car.

The key will turn but not start the vehicle. I also thought not in park but that doesn't explain the car not starting. Lights don't work or anything. That's why I thought maybe if the battery was dead it might cause it but I would think you could still pull the key out.
