Tow-Town Cruisers.
Everytime I think of Sorrento, I picture the pink Sweet&Low truck.

I've always enjoyed his shows. Some if them are on Netflix.

There are two on the opposite side of the interstate up from my house. If you are coming north or south on I75 you don't even have to wait on the red light to get your greasy spoon on.

Back in the college and single days we would hit the one on college by Port Royal all the time. I had a long tradition of ordering that gluttonous pecan pie with my drink and eat it first thing. Good times....

FEMA - The Waffle House Index
Waffle House restaurants were one of the first businesses to open on the coast in Gulfport/Biloxi after the hurricane.
quote:
Craig Fugate, the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, came up with the idea of the "Waffle House index" as an informal way of measuring the impact of a disaster. The chain, which has a large number of branches in tornado-prone areas, has a robust emergency management plan.
The index has three levels. If the local Waffle House is up and running, serving a full menu, a disaster is classed as green. If it is running with an emergency generator and serving only a limited menu, it is a yellow. If it is closed, badly damaged or totally destroyed, as during hurricane Katrina, it is a red.

The Wall Street Journal article talks about how Waffle House has beefed up its crisis management after Hurricane Katrina. Even if the power is out and only the gas grill is working, Waffle House cooks take out the gas grill-only menus and start cooking. A business-school professor even recently named Waffle House “as one of the top four companies for disaster response, with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Home Depot Inc. and Lowe's Cos.
