Its my understanding that was what the collar was originally designed for. A pro tennis player wanted something that would keep his neck for getting sunburnt and could be folded down when not needed.

I am a polo guy which embarrasses my kids but one great thing about being old is that u don't give a frick about what people think anymore.

But they are not as well made as they used to be. I would recommend spraying a stain blocker on them as my last few shirts were ruined first time a got a drop of salsa or anything on them.

I've been buying out of the tall section of Ralph Lauren, I found I can go a size down which takes away the sleeves being too long.

I know it's expensive. That's great bro. The more expensive the better. Gotta build that value.

Vineyard Vines and Southern Tide are sold at my place where I buy my clothes (fine gentlemen store). I assume they are the best quality shirts.

To be honest, besides the whale or the skipjack on the shirt, the shirts look the same you can find at a JCrew Factory for well over half the price.

Forget brands for the most part bc every mfr has good ones & shitty ones.....the key is the collar....find one with a good collar (not stiff) and you're good to go

Can't go wrong with traditional Ralph Lauren polo's. Plenty enough length and the sleeves are nice and short.

I have similar build and wear Large Tall. Fits perfectly. Don't get the drifit feeling material. Got one for Christmas, the sleeves are way too short and just looks weird overall.
