The company will invest more than $4 million to lease and equip a 112,000-square-foot space at 2499 S. 600 E. near U.S. Highway 30 in Columbia City. The new facility will serve as the company’s headquarters and will accommodate the consolidation of American LandMaster’s manufacturing operations in Roseland, Louisiana, and Fort Wayne. With plans to begin production at the new facility in September, the move will support the company’s efforts to increase efficiency of its operations, enhance customer service and increase its product lineup.

JBE
Broome
Landrieu

Those are Louisiana's more high profile politicians, and they don't give a shite about economic development.

So we're just going to ignore both senators, all representatives, and the majority of legislators?

There are zero reasons to be in LA anymore. Maybe if you go to Tulane for education (Not a knock on LSU, they are just really low in the rankings), visit Nola for a good time or attend some of the various festivals in South LA from Lafayette to NOLA.

Other than those reasons I see LA as only slightly better than MS and tied with AL.

Sucks because I was born and raised in LA. Hate to see it be so stagnant.

Nothing ever changes in LA.

Sounds more like the company looking to consolidate/downsize, not fleeing Louisiana.

Nice, Roseland is a "suburb" of JBE's home town of Amite City.

Really the deal make sense to consolidate all manufacturing nearer to American LandMasters home office in Ft. Wayne. Maybe Smitty's will expand some operations into the vacated building.

The crazy thing is that everyone knows that companies are leaving because LA will not invest in infrastructure nor education. Those two things are getting worse every day, and there are no plans to reallocate tax revenues to these area.

Indiana made a better offer...

quote:

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered ASW LLC (dba American LandMaster) up to $420,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $70,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The Whitley County Council is also considering additional incentives at the request of the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation.
"We are pleased that American LandMaster has chosen to move its operations here to Whitley County," said Whitley County Commissioner George Schrumpf. "Not only do we welcome the company to our community, we also want to warmly welcome and provide support to any employees who are considering relocating to the Whitley County community."

Sounds like complete ineptness on the part of the district's State Rep than of the Governor's office. Reps are elected to ensure these types of things never happen. It's when they do that people wake up, though. Start electing state officials who are good at their job and not simply an incumbent.

Too much taxation = theft nonsense coupled with the fact that our politicians are the country's worst at properly managing money.

A sub $500k offer on a project like this is nothing. This reeks of a consolidation to save money disguised as a new economic development deal for Indiana.

Company execs in Ft. Wayne knew they needed to consolidate HQ, mfg, & ops all under one roof. They didn't want to move their families & got a few extra bucks from Indiana to cut down on the relocation costs and "move" 15 miles down the road.

If you're going to bring up economic development deals gone wrong, the XOM facility to Corpus Christi is a better example of LA's lack of investment in infrastructure, workforce training, etc.

We would've straight up forked over the $420k without stipulations, and paid for their new facility to be built
