I went through a new car wash in the area “Whitewater Express”. They had an attendant at the screen (I guess people can’t do this ourselves?) and at the end it gave an option of Tip $1, $2, or $3. Why in the world would there need to be a tip at a drive through car wash?

This is how employers try to avoid paying people more by saying this job pay this PLUS tips! Thanks, Biden.

Had that happen to me at my car wash the other week.

My favorite is the tip jars at the dispensaries.

Being asked for a tip makes me 100% less likely to give one.

Not only has tipping culture going off the rails but the begging for donations by retail establishments in the checkout line is out of control too. No, I'm not rounding up. No, I'm not adding a dollar.

I bought a donut for a $1.71 at the DFW airport and one of the options was to tip $3. A 175% tip on handing me a donut.

There’s no way that stuff goes to charity huh? Or is it just a way for the company to say “Hey we donated ex amount of dollars to so and so this year!” Even though it really isn’t their money that they’re donating.

I just spent 10 days in Ireland. Tipping isn't a thing there. There aren't even the options for tipping when you swipe your card. It was pretty nice.

Being the jerk I am..... Pulled into such a carwash in Prairieville and one such attendant came to "help me". I told him I can handle it and to please step back, have a nice day. He said sir this is my job hand me your card. I said no thank you, I have it handled. He insisted. I told him sooooo how do I leave? He says well you have to pay and go through now, especially with a large truck like that you cannot back out. I said ok bye and backed out. We noticed two other employees running towards him as we were leaving.

It goes to the company's non-profit and it's a write-off for the company.

So you're paying extra for the company to retain earnings instead of paying taxes, and they funnel your extra money to a non-profit that probably only exists to launder money back to company brass and/or their families who are employed by the NPO.

I’m 29. I don’t need any of that because I have a great job and know how to manage my finances. Sorry your underwater basket weaving degree didn’t work out for you

A few days ago, my hotel room had a QR code in the room to tip the room service worker. It was just a Marriott hotel too, nothing fancy

Went to the Georgia Renaissance Fair yesterday. They have several restroom areas which are just 6 or 7 Port-A-Lets behind a plywood wall. At the portable hand washing spot I kid you not there was a tip jar. I'm as nice and giving as they come, but oh hell no.

SO you are of the opinion that car washes paid their employees enough to meet their nut prior to Biden being elected?

McDonald's does give the money to their charity which is a very good one doing some very important work. I have been chunking my change in the box at Mickey D's since the early 80s when I worked on a renovation at a Ronald McDonald house in Atlanta and witnessed what they were doing for the families of kids with serious health issues. It is the only charity I donate cash to. We were benefactors of this charity when my Daughter was born with a minor birth defect which needed surgical correction. We have also volunteered to cook breakfast at a Ronald McDonald house a couple of times a year since.....

I am torn...part of me thinks you are an a-hole, but most of me 100% agrees with every move you made.
