Another bout of sleep paralysis.

Fell asleep on my couch watching the game.
When I "awoke" all of the standard issues occurred. Took me a few attempts to awaken myself - dozed back off a couple times - and even when I was finally able to start moving it was a few minutes before I was able to move enough to get off the couch.
shite feels like your having a stroke because your body doesn't listen to your brain.
Walked around for several minutes and still felt like I was half asleep and having to fight just to stand upright and walk around. Now I'm tired but don't want to go back to sleep.

Ever heard of the old hag?

Yeah it's a weird sensation. Sometimes in that state it feels like I don't fit inside my body, either my "self" is too large or small for it. And the room grows or shrinks all around me.

Yeah. I never made the connection myself. It is thought that sleep paralysis is the cause of people thinking that they've been abducted by aliens.

I used to get sleep paralysis as kid pretty frequently. I haven't in years now. Guess the old bitch gave up

I've talked with some people who are able to snap out of it once they can get moving. Not me. There are times when it takes me a while to move half off the bed/couch. Had a girlfriend once tell me I looked/acted like a very slow possessed person trying to get out of a chair.

Try wiggling your toes next time to snap out of it

Man, that must really suck. Sounds like a terrible feeling to be afraid to go to sleep.

I woke out of a nightmare that we got our arse kicked by Moo State, it seemed so real.

I don't know for sure if this is the case, but I feel like certain things trigger it for me. Or at least one certain thing.
I sleep very still. Basically the way I fall asleep is the way I stay asleep. The last time I had sleep paralysis I fell asleep with my hands together, fingers interlocked. When I "woke up" all I could do was try to get my hands apart but couldn't do it.
Now, anytime I am in bed, I make sure to not do that with my hands and I haven't had it happen since.

That's usually caused by sleep apnea.

As you get older, it becomes easier to deal with. I remember getting to the point where I would simply try to relax and tell myself what was going on. Takes time to figure it out.

I've never experienced this. Thank Christ. Between this and not being affected by the equifax breach, I feel like the luckiest mf'er alive.
