A lot of this type of stuff could be avoided if they allowed direct lawsuits against individual cops. If that roided out dbag had to face the victim in a civil suit, aside from the administrative dog and pony show put on by his buddies at the department, he may act differently next time he thinks about harassing someone for no reason.

Yep, thin skinned with a chip on his shoulder. And just think, he walks around with a gun and a license to kill.

Dude was being a a-hole, If you are going to hangout around a crime scene do not be surprised if the officer working the scene is going to ask you some questions.

It's unprofessional that the cop lost his cool and all but I would back him here.

And this is dandy with a large swath of the population. Well, at least until they flashbang Grandma for shopping at a gardening store.

Honest question. Couldn't the cop have "detained" him for reasonable suspicion? Little more relaxed than probable cause, and I could see it fitting here. I get that he wasn't breaking the law, but circling like he was doing could definitely be considered suspicious behavior, especially with what was gong on in the area. Ive been pulled over for it before. Just out for a drive around town and pass in the same spot one too many times and that was it.

Saw an episode of cops last night where a guy was just walking down the street with a bag on his shoulder and was pulled over, cuffed, and questioned. He wasn't breaking any laws, but he was exuding suspicious behavior.

Are you advocating this?

Smells like freedom and liberty to me.

If some homely looking guy I had never seen before was walking through my neighborhood with a knapsack over his shoulder, no I wouldn't have a problem with the cops checking him out.

The cop wasn't a dick about it, it took about 3 minutes and he let the guy go on his way...

But again, it raised reasonable suspicion which the cops can act on, like in the video.

I can see both sides of the argument though.

Would you be ok with having your constitutional rights ignored? Or more specifically, someone else's, (as long as they are "homely" or unfamiliar)?

Think about that for a few minutes.

Minding his own business is suspicious behavior to you? Sounds like you need a LEO to "protect & serve" you a few times to the head for walking down the street. Some of you could learn to grow a spine.

The cop has a right to search based on reasonable suspicion. Did you miss that part or do you just not like it?

And I have no reason to dispute an officer wanting to ask me a few questions. Im a law abiding citizen.

I don't go chasing them around at crime scenes just to stir shite up either

circling and following police is not exactly "keeping a safe distance"

People rubber neck all day long. No issue

Circling like a hawk and is a known "watchdog" is different deal.

Is it unlawful for the police to circle you where you go and work? Ok for them take pictures and video and post it on the internet?

Nah, you probably wouldn't like that too much.

so the point here is that this young adult is just trying to ruffle jimmies and that's just not cool in my book. It's blatant disrespect.

It's just dumb to disrespect law enforcement officers

How dare he observe a public servant at work. From a public road. While not breaking any laws. "Obstructing!" We must give the police absolute deference and privacy. They do the same for us, right? Right?
