Whatever, just thought it was weird. Pigs don't seem any grosser to me than 500,000 chickens in a warehouse. Birds are gross.
I raise many animals, and the chickens are free range and still nastier than pigs.

Absent refridgeration, pork spoils far more quickly than most other domesticated live stock. Pork's banning was practical to prevent food poisoning and trichinosis. The same issue was true for shellfish.
For Jews, the reason why dairy and meat are not supposed to be eaten in the same dish was simply because both were luxuries. It was considered wasteful. It was a means of stretching resources.
Using seperate dishes for raw meats and cooked food? That's just common sense in a world without modern disinfectants to prevent cross contamination and salmonella.
Kosher and Halal certifications? The rabbis and imams aren't just "blessing" the meat, they're actually inspecting it. Rabbis were the first public health inspectors.
All of the old Jewish and Muslim dietary laws were actually very common-sense measures outlining how to survive in a desert climate without modern anti-bacterial soaps, detergents, and refridgeration.

This is very cool though.
So basically, the "no pork" thing is a fricking stupid rule in modernized areas. I guess a lot of middle eastern areas are still very primitive in their food processing and safety monitoring of the industry.

You should gain a better understanding on the Palestinian-Israeli relationship before saying these things. It's not about eradicating jews is about going back to the pre-1967 border. That being said, the pre-1967 borders are never coming back as long as we back Israel. How do you think those borders moved in the first place? It wasn't Palestine that did that. I 100% agree that we shouldn't go back to those borders too, we are in too tight with Israel at this point. They are our only friend in the mid-east. I just understand where Islam is coming from.
This is essentially the reason why we are in such a shite situation. We need Israel and it was also be political suicide to acknowledge Palestine. So while blowing up Isis seems like a short term fix, it won't end this thing long term

Ummmm, borders are established after wars. A war was fought and won by Israel, hence the borders we have today.
BTW, I just looked at a pre-1967 map, and I'll be damned if I can find Palestine on one.
