Tennessee is the lowest debt state in the nation and Middle TN is the #1 Housing market in the US. Couple that with amazing topography, no state income tax, and low cost of living, me thinks this article is fricking nonsense. The 1500 families a month relocating to middle TN would agree if I'm a gambling man.

its fricking paradise here (well except that stupid pedal tavern with drunk bridesmaids)

I see. You put the word meaningless in there and it was actually ....meaningless.

Charleston, Asheville.

Austin by a mile if you consider that the South.

We have a girl in our office from Nashville. According to her, Nashville was a shitty, boring town with not much to do until about a decade ago. Places like 12 South, Germantown, East Nashville didn't exist. Downtown was a hell hole. You're too new to the scene.

Nashville has been a hot destination for decades. I wouldn't take anecdotal evidence as gospel

swing and a miss. i moved here in 96 and work in the heart of downtown.

and because downtown has been COMPLETELY overhauled and is gorgeous and amazing your point that it was old 10 years ago means what exactly? east nashville & germantown are also amazing places and the new baseball stadium is a crown-jewel.

jealous much?

nashville >>>>>>>>>>>> any other place you mentioned.

She's from the area. Went to a great, all girls private school. She knows more than I do. I'll take her word for it.

Ehh...I have to disagree with you a little bit CAD. live in Nashville and while I enjoy it, I'd personally choose both Austin and Asheville over Nashville (assuming I'd have a comparable income).

Charleston, on the other hand, while a great city...I'd find myself getting bored with Charleston after a while.

Just a personal preference.

ETA: I'd honestly flirt with a move to Chattanooga if I could find a job that pays the same. But, like I said, it's just a personal preference.

I've been all over the world, lived in several States, including Monterey, Kalifornia (PRK).

I'd rather live in those Southern States than any place on earth.

Nashville > Other Area

Exhibit A - 12th South

Exhibit B - East Nashville

Exhibit C - Germantown

Exhibit D - Downtown

Exhibit E - Gulch

Exhibit F - Midtown

Exhibit G - Belmont

Exhibit H - Hillsboro Village

Exhibit I - Riverside

For the record, I'm not even out of nashville yet into surrounding areas.

Franklin, Lieper's Fork, Natchez Trace....I could be here for hours.

i'd never raise a family in austin ever. you may not be at that stage in your life but i find nashville to be cleaner and the quality of people i interact with WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than austin. no way i'd move there just to sit in traffic and deal with weirdo hippies and homeless teenagers.
