WTF is this? I have Amazon Prime and will renew it. I've often wondered how the free shipping part of the deal was possible from a business standpoint. I found this article and brought it here.

According to the article, it's "well below" the USPS cost to deliver. It's not sustainable, particularly since Amazon is probably the largest single customer by a long shot.

If the USPS didn't make this contract with Amazon, Amazon would have made it with FedEx, ups, dhl, etc.
Chances are much more likely that this contract is what is keeping the USPS viable.

They likely have. Pretty sure that I receive Amazon packages from all three major carriers.

Then what's the issue? Amazon keeping a shitty entity that fricks up our deliveries often afloat? If so, I am in full agreement, I just didn't see that point in the OP.

Apparently you can't criticize Amazon because they keep the pukes hidden from the consumers' sights. But yet we are encouraged to criticize Walmarks. Guess the folks in Benton don't donate as much to the right political party.

Did you read the OP? USPS is delivering BELOW THEIR OWN COSTS. If your company is doing inspections for less than your cost to perform them, then yes, you are subsidizing them.

I doubt any of those companies would make a deal that cost them money (delivering for below their own cost), but if they were willing, then hell yes, let them do it instead of the USPS doing it and costing ME money.

Exactly. It seems most on this thread do not understand that if it is delivered BELOW cost, then it is costing the USPS money to deliver packages for Amazon. Where does USPS get its money? Oh, that's right, from us.
Now, as an Amazon Prime subscriber, I am thrilled. Instead of the delivery costs being spread out across Amazon Prime users, it is being spread across all U.S. taxpayers. That means my subscription and/or the costs of my purchases won't be increased as much. Thanks fo subsidizing my purchases!
