Am I the only person who doesn't buy in to the Nikola Tesla hype?

I respect the man as highly intelligent and very accomplished. I don't belittle his contributions to improving AC technology or being a pioneer with advancing electricty.

All that said, he was fricking crazy. A lot of the shite he claimed to have done (wireless power) was never proven and he had no actual evidence.

He didn't get screwed by Edison either. He worked for Edison as an engineer then took his works to Westinghouse (some would argue illegally). If anything, he stole from Edison. But, that's not the way the current storyline goes, despite no real evidence to support the Edison claims.

So, what type of person are you? One who realizes Tesla is more hype than substance, one who is "in the know" about the Tesla circle jerk, or just one who is just glad Tesla invented electricty to keep your beer cold tonight?

Well, he did invent the synchronous AC motor. That's pretty huge, but there were others close behind, so someone likely would have come up with the same thing in relatively short order had he not.

I don't know if bothered is the right term here.

Tesla is an all time genius up there with Isaac Newton, Leonardo Davinci, and Donald Trump.

Edison teaming up with JP Morgan running smear campaigns against Tesla and AC doesn't do well for Edison's legacy Imo.

Didn't happen.

They did try to win the AC v DC war. Who can blame them, that's where their money was.

They were proven wrong in the long run, but I don't know where they smeared Tesla personally. They just killed some animals and people.

Tesla is mostly forgotten amongst the general public and Edison won the PR battle.

With that said, put me on #TeamNikola

You know it isn't Tesla v Edison right?

They both did some pretty amazing things.

Yea, but without the Tesla coils Frankenstein would’ve been a box office flop...

The "Signs" cover was crap if you ask me. "Edison's Medicine" was solid, though.

He did tell Albert Einstein that his first law of relativity was a joke and called him a fool. I’m guessing he was kinda smart....

A lot of the "crazy" ideas he had have been proven to be correct years later.
He was so far advanced that it has taken a lot of time for the rest of society to catch up.

His single wire power transmission, coupled harmonic transmissions, and the ionosphere. To name just a few. Educate yourself before you "don't buy the hype".
