Moviegoers at a drive-in theater in Alabama won’t be able to see a retelling of the “tale as old as time.

” The Henagar Drive-In Theatre in DeKalb County has canceled its screenings of “Beauty and the Beast” because the film will feature Disney’s first openly gay character.

quote:

The announcement follows the Alabama theater’s change in ownership. “When companies continually force their views on us, we need to take a stand. We all make choices and I am making mine,” a statement on the northeast Alabama theater’s Facebook page read. “If we cannot take our 11-year-old granddaughter and 8-year-old grandson to see a movie, we have no business watching it. If I can’t sit through a movie with God or Jesus sitting by me, then we have no business showing it.”

Okay, good for them.

Hopefully this decision doesn't hurt them financially.

I hate Bama . . . but good on them here. At least somebody's standing up for truth and decency.

Good. A private business can do what they want.

I have no problem with this. I wonder if the SJWs will come and force them to show it? After all, they were able to force a baker to bake a cake against his will/beliefs.

all i know is that there are snowflakes on both sides of the aisle. Dem or GOP it doesnt matter. people just love melting.

that being said its their own prerogative to show it or not. so dont show it and just move a long. why make a big deal about it.

Just tell Jesus to cover his eyes during the gay parts. Parenting 101.

It's a private business and should be able to show or not show whatever movie it feels like.

At the same time the public is free to either support or not support this business by choosing to either spend their money there or spend their money elsewhere.

If the public consensus is in agreement with this drive in, they will be successful. If the public consensus is not in agreement, the drive in will lose business.

Isn't the free market great?

If most of their patrons are from DeKalb County, that is very unlikely. It is more likely that making this decision will encourage them to give them money.

If people want to see it, they will be able to at just about every other cinema that will more than likely air it.
