does anyone opt to use Airbnb exclusively? I wouldn't mind renting out an entire space but the ones where it's just a room with the host staying there would seem kinda weird...

I'll just say I never stayed at a Hampton Inn and got the rent dropped to zero just for watching the manager frick his wife.

AirBnB all the way

Just booked a badass loft in downtown Houston with a balcony and all hardwood for less than $100/night

My buddy got a camp on the river recently with jet skis for about $250/night and they were cool with us throwing a party

Airbnb for vacations. For business give me a hassle free hotel.

That's why you just avoid the ones with no reviews.

Meh, take the good with the bad. As mentioned earlier, occasionally you get to watch two middle aged New Englanders bang.

You generally won't save much by using airbnb, but it's nice to stay in a house or an apartment in a cool area on vacation.

I did airbnb in a beach town in California and the guy let us use all his surfing gear. It was pretty awesome.

If you go cheap, though, don't be surprised if it's a shite hole

Reviews reviews reviews. I've used it several times.

Had an air bnb owner email me on day 3 of my stay in Chicago to ask when I would be leaving and if I could make up the bed so it "looked" clean for the next guest who would be arriving early. Wtf?

At least I have a reasonable expectation of cleanliness in a high end hotel. She got bad review.
