honestly workers should do that more often. if bosses are scared of the workers, they would be less likely to frick them over.

bosses have no control over the market. They are simply responding to price signals when they decide to cut jobs.

Labor is and has been historically disgusting. frick labor unions and frick these french workers

I'm sure if it were up to Hawkeye, everyone over at the typewriter factory would still be doing just fine here in 2015!

Ah yes. If it weren't for that pesky little thing called economics all workers could have their way.

Connecting through CDG is bad enough. Whatever Air France does, it shouldn't impact their service negatively. It's not as if there aren't better options even among their own partners. Their staff seems friendly enough, but airlines typically suffer a lot these days when they piss off their passengers.

There's some crazy videos of the taxi drivers in Paris rioting over Uber. Those guys went nuts.

Why would a socialist want a job? Just let the government take care of you.

Its not economics. Air france is not about to go out of business.

Its managing short term profits on the backs of workers. Its ok to do, but it impacts people's lives quite a bit. Managers should understand the impact of their action prior to taking actions. If they did, they likely would take different actions. I also feel confident those managers are giving themselves a nice bonus based off of this.

Have you ever taken an econ class? Where in the hell did they teach you that "economics" meant going out of business?

Air France is facing increased competition and having to retool in order to compete.

I actually have an MBA with a concentration of finance.

I am not suggesting that they don't make cuts. But be a man and own up to it, look your workers in the eye when you do it. Embrace their pain, feel their anger.

Workers need to be a party to this. They need to voice how managerial decisions impact their lives.

I have personally seen layoffs done for one main reason - to juice an executive bonus. Its fricking crap.

Maybe a person should base their life around the fact that economics drives the company that gives them their income and plan accordingly. My company has no responsibility to me other than to pay me for the work I do. They only pay me because it's their belief that I help to maximize profit. When that changes, I'm out the door. I know that, I accept that, and they don't owe me anything more.

If you're a SkyMiles earner than for the love of God fly KLM through AMS and avoid Air France and CDG. AF-KLM is the parent company but the Netherlands doesn't have the ridiculous union culture that France does.

Air France has lost something like 6 billion Euros since 2008. It is not 1985 and the government (13% stake) can attempt to dictate and "protect" the workers but unless it's willing to massively subsidize the airline they're going to go the way of Eastern (the IAM union versus Eastern management--both lost).

Air France is hemorrhaging money, dude. They've posted consecutive 150,000,000+ Euro annual losses, and my guess is that FY15 is even worse for them. They very well may have filed for bankruptcy if KLM hadn't been propping them up.

What the ever loving frick?

Cops should apply that point of view as well, right? And governments, corporations, gangs, etc...

It's the only civilized way to go. If you have the numbers and power, take advantage of it.
