Had to go out to my car for lunch due to the need for making a personal phone call and privacy. While in the parking garage, I notice a younger gentleman sitting in his car sipping on a beer. Noticed he drank at least two for the short time I was out there. What should be the course of action?

Mention it to his supervisor?

Confront him about it and maybe invite him to our church service Sunday?

Slip an AA card on his desk when he's not around?

Other?

I don't want to make things awkward but would feel guilty taking no course of action esp since this is a huge violation of company policy. Thanks in advance.

Anonymous mention to HR should do the trick

ETA: Mind your business. I don't need down votes to rain on me

If you have any kind of rapport with him, I would mention it to him in private. And do so in a way that you are concerned about him.

A beer or two at lunch never hurt anyone. At least he wasn't driving down the causeway.

Sitting in the car and drinking is a bit of a red flag.

But honestly....you may be mistaken on what he was drinking. I would not do anything about it.

Yeah unless it's affecting his job performance and your his boss then u shouldn't say anything. Now if he is running heavy machinery and people lives are at risk then yeah you may want to have a talk with his superior.

What kind of work do you do?

Paper sales? I wouldn't say anything.

Crane operator? I'd definitely confront him.

Mind your business until it starts to affect his job or he lets you know that he has a problem. Pray for him and ask the Lord to open a door to speak with him if there's a concern.
