Hell yeah, we've been flirting with this race war for too long. Enough fore-play, I want some goddamn penetration. Let's do this!!
And calls for a race war gets a 32:1 upvote ratio. Why am I not surprised. You do know there are white people who want them down too. The answer is simple. Arrest them.
For the record, I am 100% against their removal

You're incorrect. Most people did not own slaves, it's estimated that around 6 percent of white southerners did.

For the sake of argument and only for the sake of argument:
We have heard a lot recently about groups arguing that people need to confront their white privilege.
The groups supporting the removal of the statues have, in a very public way, highlighted what they believed to be the shortcomings of the subjects of these statues as it relates to race(albeit as judged against modern standards rather than the standards of their time)
If the goal is the exposure and confrontation of certain negatives, wouldn't the more logical course of action be to leave the statues in place so that people are forced to confront the issues and negativity which groups argue are exposed by these statues?
If, instead, the belief is that the statues should be removed and history rinsed and ignored, then why isn't this the approach with similar issues?

why arrest them? just banish them from the city. You hate these statues so much? move to Detroit.

You simply do not mess with Southern pride and heritage and not have a population willing to defend it again.

Couldn't this be settled if they were moved to private property?
Posted on 9/16/16 at 11:01 am to rsbd
It's a public place, just go sit and watch.

You absolutely cannot give into these people. They're like vampires with an insatiable thirst for blood that will never be quenched no matter how much is poured down their gullets. Once the statues are down, they'll move to street names, then to buildings, then to God knows what else. You have to draw the line somewhere because these people stand for absolutely nothing more than the fight itself.

I know, why are they not as passionate about improving the education in New Orleans or helping homeless, or making New Orleans safer.
No we must remove the statues
No we must remove the statues

I agree. Leave the statues and add context in the form of explanatory plaques or whatever.

My brother in law has an autographed picture of him and his dad with Reggie Jackson and I suspect the Michael Jackson Thriller album is on his Prime music playlist. I never realized that my sister had married into the Klan. Racism is insidious.

We should probably start thinking of a new name for Jefferson parish, right?

You know, for someone who claims not to care about these statues or their removal, you sure manage to find your way into every thread about them.

That is well within the realm of possibilities and I'm dead serious. These people will stop at nothing to change current society simply for the sake of changing it. Yes, they say it's to "make people feel comfortable and included", but these people get off on bullying people in order to do nothing more than make a huge public scene. These are the same people that were picked on in high school that now look at this as a prime opportunity to exact their revenge on the world. It's a twisted, empty ideology that must be stopped before it's too late.

Hey dipshit, I didn't declare a side in said race war, just that I'm for it. Why don't you quit making generalizations and open your mind to the fact that maybe I wanna kill white people?

The peaceful citizens of New Orleans need to gather and whip their asses when they show up
