You need to give it another shot. I'm not obsessed with either, but Android is much better now and the hardware is too.

How does that dispel the point that trashy and ghetto people also own iPhones?

Did you miss where Apple is specifically trying to expand into those demographics with more available phones?

I would be interested in seeing a comparison between the flagship phones for Apple, Samsung and HTC, as that would be a fairer study. I do think iPhones are the most prevalent among professionals, but I doubt the new HTC one has a huge following in the slums.

This, these threads have gotten pathetic on both sides. I'm just waiting for CAD to get in here and then the stupidity can really take off.

Why are you so worked up about what someone thinks about what someone else thinks about phones? Yours is the most aggressive post in this thread.

No shite, what an overreaction. I think the phone wars are interesting. I also think I'm fairly neutral, considering I use Apple products for work, home computer, and tablet, and Android phones.

Apple is chasing Samsung now, and they are running around with their tails between their legs. Samsung now owns 80% market share of the worlds mobile devices.

Lol.

That's global mobile phone profit share. Not just smart phones. Not just US. You can say what you want about market share, but making money is what they're all in business to do, and it's apple then everyone else in that conversation.

ETA: one can almost make an argument that Apple is exactly where they want to be. Over 65% of all profits in a global market is getting close to monopoly status, but with only 20% market share they can never have anti trust suites brought against them.

Clearly Apple decided to make a product for the everyman, as has been their objective following the Apple 2, and they've done it well. Everything works well for me and nothing is too complicated.

Agree with this, though I do (somewhat hypocritically, I'll confess) mock those who HAVE to have any new product Apple happens to roll off the production line. My brother has an iPhone 5S, an iPad, an iPad air, a Mac, an iPod and Apple TV. I love my brother, but he's the epitome of the Apple sheep.

I like my iPhone because it's simple, I'm not the most tech-savvy person around, and because I don't live on my phone. I got a Galaxy S4 through work last year, absolutely hated it, and went back to my old iPhone 4S after just 3 months and have had it since. I'm not a sheep, just a glutton for simplicity, and that much is proven by the fact I'm still rocking an 4S while practically everyone I know has a 5.

I don't have an iPad (don't need one) and don't have a Mac (don't want one), but my work computer is a Mac and I don't find them to be much better than your run of the mill PC.

Rant warning.

I switched to Apple in 2008 and my technological life has been gloriously enjoyable ever since.

This is not a humble brag, but necessary to make my point:

I have owned or do own the following Apple products with the numbers being how many in the house at any given time for the family:

2007 iMac
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4 (3)
iPhone 5 (2)
1st gen iPad (2)
3rd gen iPad (2)
2011 MB Air
1st gen iPad mini (3)
iPad Air
iPad Mini w/retina
Apple TV (2)

Guess how many tech support calls I've had to make in 6 or 7 years for these 19 individual products?

1

The ear speaker on my iPhone 4 went out and I called late Monday evening and had a brand new iPhone 4 on my doorstep Wed.

Guess how many of these 18 other items have had to be taken in for service in all these years:

0

My son is on my 7 year old iMac as I type this. It runs like the day I bought it.

That's why I am an "iSheep."

Why is complexity considered a virtue with regards to consumer technology if the end result is the same?

I've never understood that concept.

I think at it's core, the Apple hate from Android users amounts to insecurity. They want to be the cool guy that can show people how to do things and feel smart. That is a good feeling, I admit. I used to be the tech savvy guy that would help people figure stuff out until the last couple of years when now even grandma has a smart phone. It stung a little to not be the tech guy. Normal people did what I wanted them to always do and they got with the program. Apple had a ton to do with this good thing.

It's like a Android nerds want to artificially promote something that is not user friendly so they can be the guy that knows something others do not and boost their ego. It's bizarre.

I am not unfamiliar with Android. As a matter of fact, I use an Android tablet 8 hours a day as it was forced on me by my job.

I find it to be, for lack of a better term, a piece of shite. It is a Samsung tablet.
