A hypothetical concerning the Dorner situation

We all know the LAPD was running scared and shooting at anything that resembled a truck.

They shot up two poor, innocent delivery women, from behind, in a truck that resembled nothing of the suspect's. They shot at a man in a truck that did not even come close to resembling the suspect's vehicle.

If this were to happen, and the driver of the truck were to get out and fire off a couple of rounds, and kill a police officer, should that person be held accountable for the murder of said cop?

When do you have the right to fire on a police officer?

In that situation I would shoot first and ask questions later. I don't think the person should get in Amy kind of trouble because of clear negligence on the officers part.

Absolutely not. You must submit to this Organ of the State.

I agree.

They fired on those two women from behind.

I think you have a fundamental right to protect yourself from anyone, including "peace officers". What an oxymoronic name.

Pragmatically, never.

I mean, you could always defend yourself, but at what price? Google a few articles regarding "no-knock warrants" and witness the fatal results of trying to defend yourself, home, and family.

A generally messed up situation.

I agree with all of what you said.

And I think we, as a nation, need to have a serious discussion about the current state of things. We should have the right to defend ourselves in situations such as those without facing capital murder charges.

Any lawyers that can chime in here on what one could expect? (Using Cali laws and general trends)
