Aldi, dubbed the world's best grocery chain, plans to open 45 new stores by the end of 2016, according to a press release.
The first 25 stores will open in Southern California by July 2016.
The grocer currently has 1,400 stores nationwide and more than 19,000 employees in 32 states.
With these new locations, Aldi is expected to create around 1,100 jobs across its stores, regional headquarters, and warehouse.
Consumers will likely be attracted to the stores' simple design and affordability. Aldi is even cheaper than Wal-Mart, according to Cheapism.
The company is also known for its efficiency.
It takes special care in organizing its stores so consumers can have the easiest shopping experience possible.
Aldi packages and stocks a more selected assortment of products than other grocers, which helps the company to generate more sales.
It stocks just 1,400 items in stores, and about 90% of the products at the grocer are private label, which helps to grant shoppers bigger savings.

When this happens will Walmart still be the big bad corporation?

Tons of 'em here in Charlotte. It's Ok. Kind of like trader joe's meets family dollar. They have some good stuff, but there's a lot of crap in there as well.

Same here. I've seen commercials for them here and I always thought it was just a trashier version of Wal Mart. I'm probably wrong though.

No one is going to do their big grocery shopping at Aldi. It's probably OK to pick one or two things up. I'm sure Walmart isn't worried.

I hate to disparage my own people, but it just seems like a cult grocery store for homeschooled baptists

Aldi accepts cash, debit cards, and EBT. They do NOT accept credit cards, though.
We have Aldi stores here in DFW. You don't get a lot of choices (for example, you can buy regular saltine crackers but not unsalted tops) and, with a very few exceptions, you only get their house brand. But their prices are really low.
The only reason I don't go there too often is that its far away from the house, and on the way there is now a WinCo. WinCo, like Aldi, doesn't take credit cards, but they also give you 2-3 choices of brands.

Aldi has a weird selection though. And it varies. Cant be your primary store

Only partially true. There are actually two Aldi companies, Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud. Nord owns Trader Joe's; Sud owns Aldi stores.

There's one right by my house that I've never been in. Honestly it's out of ignorance...I didn't realize it was cheap. I thought it was supposed to be one of them fancy groceries where there's no carts and you have to bring your own burlap sack.
Maybe I'll check it out. The Kroger I go to is a hole so any excuse to go somewhere else would be nice.

I was about to say, sounds a lot more like Trader Joe's than Walmart.

You are. Their stores are very clean and well organized.

Wrong on that. I've been and there are quite a few people with their carts filled to overflowing.
