I hate Aldi. Gives me bad vibes.
Just feels like poor in there.
I'm a thrifty bastard, would not care.

I thought it was supposed to be one of them fancy groceries where there's no carts and you have to bring your own burlap sack
you have to put a quarter in the cart slow to release the cart but it's refunded when you bring the cart back. And you do have to bring your own bags.

I just know I'm going to be the idiot who is clueless and looks like he has no idea what I'm doing the first time I go. And I hate that.
Well...there probably won't be anyone you know there, anyway. Push through it and go...once you get used to it, you will like it. I got a pack of (off brand) fig newtons there last week for $99 cents...they were nearly $3.00 at Kroger. I swallowed my pride...then swallowed some M-fing newtons...
I will agree with another poster that you probably can't do all of your shopping there. The stores are small, and don't carry everything...but produce, eggs, milk, bread...pretty much the staple foods, they can't be touched on price.

we buy 3/4 of our grocerys there. We use Sams for most meat and some other things.
Last week strawberrys were .99 per#. I got 8# and put them in the freezer. You can realy save money if you shop there. And yes you cain't find every thing there.

I used them while stationed over seas in Germany and came back home and moved about a mile and a half away from one in Knoxville.
Quality food at very reasonable prices. Almost none of the big name brands which is better on our wallets as consumers.
You do have to bring your own grocery bags or buy some of theirs for 25 cents(that are strong and re-usable). It takes a minute to get used to, but it makes sense from an environmental standpoint. Really cool spot

We typically use Costco Cold Bags...I agree that once you are used to it...it's no big deal.

It's the way it's set up more than the clientele. It feels very thrown together, and lacks flow. It's like the Dollar General of grocery stores.

Which one do you like better...the one on Kingston Pike, Schaad Rd, or off the Norris Freeway?
To me, the Kingston Pike store gets a bit crowded at times.

Ummm, there are labeled aisles and everything is pretty much in order. They aren't big places so if you are confused by whatever this lack of flow is...

We just got one in my town, and it is awesome. Everyone says they don't have the brands, but they more or less do. Example, they carry "Millville" cereals. Guess who makes Millville? General Mills.
The non name brand stuff I have bought from there has been just as good if not better than the branded stuff. It is clean and you can get in and out. They check you out of there faster than any store I have ever been to. I get all my groceries from there except Steaks. Only go to other stores (WalMart) for shampoo, soap, cleaners, etc.

We live close to the Kingston pike/cedar bluff intersection so we have only ever used that one.
It does get pretty crowded, but I always leave feeling like it was a success and my wallet ends up thanking me for it.
I'll run to publix or krogers if I need to grab something aldi doesn't carry

Either the one by your house is trashy, or you can't read. Every item has a sign labeling what it is. More so than other stores, IMO.

Aldi is investing more than $3 billion in its US expansion, as it plans to open 650 new stores and hire 10,000 people by the end of 2018. Within the five-year plan, the company will grow to operate nearly 2,000 stores.

I used to live near that one...It can get pretty backed up on Sunday afternoons. I pass by the one in Oak Ridge during the week, and it isn't ever crowded.

You are also near the Mega Kroger and Costco...so you are pretty much set. BTW...I'm glad that Publix has finally infiltrated our market, too. Kroger pretty much had a monopoly on big chain grocery stores here for decades.

Love me some Aldi. I shop there all the time.

It is kind of strange. A ton of brands I have never seen anywhere else. I guess maybe the foods are European or something?

It's nice. We're in the middle of a bunch of options. My wife enjoys that quite a bit.
I'm happy about Publix as well. I think they're a little pricey on somethings, but some are ok.
Have you checked out the new whole foods off of papermill?
