Posted on Facebook, "Good bye y'all.. I just took all my meds and gonna OD.."

I called him as soon as I saw it (about 25 minutes after he posted it).

He answered as he was throwing up! All I could hear was him heaving and some dude in the background asking what he had taken. He said he took all of his blood pressure medicine.

Dude asked him if he was trying to kill himself and he said yes because he has a disease (just found out a few weeks ago that he has a hip disease and hasn't been able to walk). Just said he's been frustrated with other stuff.

He mumbled some other stuff about it being too late and I heard something about the fire department (the guy there might have been from the fire department) and then he hung up.

Anyways he's currently in the hospital. What's his outlook look like if he took a whole bottle of blood pressure medicine? I'm assuming he took other stuff with it but not sure.

TL;DR
Old friend tried to kill himself. I called him as he was throwing up. He's currently in the hospital.

You should probably ask his doctor

Sorry to hear

Fortunately he didn't really want to die or he would have killed himself.

Be a friend and be there for him as much as possible.

Really depends on what type of BP meds it was. If he was still talking by the time fire dept was there I'd bet he gonna be alright.

We live in separate states so probably won't get that opportunity.

Exactly. People that try and kill themselves by taking pills don't really wanna die.

If they really wanted to die, eating a bullet is the only way to go.

Or jumping will get the job done as well

Sounds like Facebook is why he was found and likely saved.

Thanks. Hopefully they got to him time and he pulls through. We don't live in the same state anymore but still talk a few times per month about business. I could definitely tell he wasn't in a very good place by talking with him but never expected this.

That's not the typical way males committ or attempt suicide.

He should seek different opinions on his hip.

Yea he wouldn't have posted it on fb if he wanted to go through with it. I wonder if he was the one that called 911. Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk with him. It hasn't really hit me yet but if the last thing I hear from the guy is him throwing up, then that's going to be pretty brutal to deal with, which is selfish of me to say.

Was there anything from previous Facebook posts indicative of possible suicide before this such as giving things away?

If he posted that, then answered his phone he didn't want to kill himself, and was crying out for help. Be a friend to him thru this.

Yes he posted a song last Wednesday called "End of my Journey" by Harry Stewart. I just saw it after all of this today.
