A/C trouble in not very old car

'08 Civic. Cold air stopped blowing suddenly while driving, so I didn't think it was a leak. Opened hood to see compressor not spinning. Fans work fine.
Replaced the relay in the fuse box under the hood thinking it was electrical, still didn't fix it. Anything else I can try before taking it to the dealer?

I wouldn't take it to the dealer. Chances are being that age your compressor bit the dust, often times what happens is your Dryer falls apart and all the little pieces in it go into the Compressor and jam it up.

That's what worries me. I don't want to replace the whole thing, I heard sometimes the clutch inside gets worn, but I don't really know how to fix that either.
Suggestions?

That would be the last place I took it.

Fan.
Three screws, 10 minutes.
ETA: The compressor is not working at all?
Disregard my first answer.

Buy a gauge and a can or 2 of freon...very easy to do and works well

Bend a small paperclip or thin wire into a u shape, disconnect the low pressure switch and put each end of the paperclip into the connector. Crank your car, turn on the A/C and see if the compressor kicks on. If it does, the pressure switch is bad OR you are low on freon...most likely low on freon. If it doesn't, it's likely the clutch relay in the under hood fuse box or possibly the compressor clutch is shot.
Edit: the clutch relays are known to go out. Here a diagram...if there's an identical relay in there, just swap it out and see if your A/C kicks on.

Relay was my first guess, but replacing it didn't do anything. I'll try jumpering it and refilling the freon. We'll see what happens.

Adding more if it is already full will hurt the system and decrease cooling. Get a gauge set with blue, yellow, and red hoses to properly diagnose if you can get your compressor to engage by jumping it

It's likely the compressor clutch. The same thing went out on my '07 Civic. That was the diagnosis I got with 3 quotes ranging from $1200-$1600 for repair.
You could do it yourself for about $200, but you'll have take the front end off. Then you have to get the system flushed because when the clutch dies it can release metal shards.

No worries this happens to me all the time.
1. Turn your car on.
2. make sure your temp knob is turned all the way to the biggest complete circle/or biggest streak of blue! NOT RED.
3. turn your A/C intensity knob all the way to 4 or 5 whichever your car maxes out at
4. make sure max a/c button is lit and your air is circulating within your car cabin and not being brought in from that hot arse hood.
5. make sure your air is smacking stick figure you in the face! not your feet or anywhere else
5. yell at the wife or "SO" for fricking with the A/C in your car.

I did that first. Didn't fix it

Damn...that exhausts the extent of all my car knowledge. Did you pop the hood and look at stuff?

Turn off the air.
Turn fan off.
Start car.
Roll down windows.
Drive to dealer.
Trade it in on new pick up.
